Trousdale County Schools Weekly Lesson Plan
Teacher:
Coach Satterfield
Pacing Guide Week #: 17
Dates: December 8 - 12
Subject:
7th Grade Science
Common Core Standard(s) to be taught: (Write the entire standard)

W2b – Develop a topic with relevant, well-chosen facts, evidence, and concrete details.
SPI(s) to be taught: (Write the entire SPI)
 SPI.0707.4.4 – Interpret a Punnett square to predict possible genetic combinations passed from parents to offspring
during sexual reproduction.
 SPI.0707.4.3 – Describe the relationship among genes, chromosomes, and inherited traits.
 SPI 0707. Inq. 3 Interpret and translate data into a table, graph, or diagram.
Daily practice activity for citing text based evidence in conversation and/or writing:
 Writing activity over the importance of sexual reproduction in humans. Discussing how genes, chromosomes, and
inherited traits play a role in offspring from parents, and backing up with evidence throughout the essay.
 Students will cite information from the text in a well-constructed argument about how traits are passed to offspring
during sexual reproduction, and how to correctly interpret a punnett square in genetics.
 Presentations that involve students working in groups and each group member having a specific job that constructs
a well given presentation (citation, group seriousness, creativity, and structure).
 Formally written lab reports that have key points and emphasis designing an experiment by backing it up with
factual information.

combinations passed to offspring”.
 “I can…describe how genes, chromosomes, and
inherited traits play a role in heredity.”
Assessment Strategies (for Stage 1 teachers ONLY): Assessment used to determine mastery daily: If a quiz or test is given,
include in the Teacher’s Lesson Plan Notebook.
 Quiz will be given over Ch. 8 section 2 and 3
 Lab report will be given over a genetics experiment, where students will set up an experiment and correctly I.D. specific
parts.
 Daily bell ringers that incorporate previous knowledge to access students’ ability over the content being introduced.
 Daily activities of presenting information that allow students to dig into reasoning skills and be able to explain patterns and
processes to groups and class members.
Instructional Materials (for Stage 1 teachers ONLY): All instructional materials are to be included in the Teacher’s Lesson Plan
Notebook.
 Powerpoints with daily bell ringers
 Projector activities that incorporate bell ringers and content being introduced
 Mobi lecture powerpoints
 TCAP coach book
 Science textbook
 Interactive presentations and projects
 Videos introducing content and being used as a wrap-up or follow-up tool to sum up the content visually.

Alternate Instructional Interventions: Provide a specific plan for alternate instructional interventions, or re-teaching.
 Each day the students are assessed in the daily bell ringer to see if content is being mastered.
 If content is not mastered, it is grounds for going back and re-teaching or going more in depth with the content that has
already been introduced until all students have mastered the desired content.
Instructional technologies to enhance learning: List how each will enhance the effectiveness of the lesson.
 Powerpoints over the lessons that offer students an option of copying notes and filling in the blanks in different methods.
 Mobi presentations that can be altered by on-the-go techniques.
 Projector Bell Ringers that allow full participation for each student and allows them to gather thoughts and organize them
from the previous class meeting.
 Videos over the content being introduced that allow students another way of getting and seeing the information that is
