GENERAL PRACTICE RESIDENCY PROGRAM RESIDENT OBJECTIVES: ANESTHESIA ROTATION EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES FOR THE ANESTHESIA ROTATION: Training and experience will be provided in: 1) Preoperative patient evaluation; 2) Assessment of the effects of pharmacologic agents; 3) Venipuncture technique; 4) Administration of pharmacologic agents; 5) Patient monitoring; 6) Airway management; 7) Anesthetic induction and intubation; 8) Prevention and treatment of anesthetic emergencies; 9) Assessment of patient recovery from anesthesia; DESCRIPTION OF ANESTHESIA ROTATION: Each resident is assigned exclusively to the Department of Anesthesia for a two-week rotation. Residents will be under direct supervision of the Anethesia faculty. The rotation is scheduled Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. -5:00 p.m., for a total of 80 hours.
