CHECKLIST OF WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR THE EXAM
THIS HANDOUT CONTAINS A LIST OF WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR EACH SECTION
IN THE EXAM, YOU CAN ADD TO THIS LIST IF YOU WISH. IT IS A BASIC GUIDE TO
PREPARE YOU BEFORE YOUR EXAM TO ENSURE YOU ARE ON THE RIGHT TRACK.
THE RED TEXT WILL TELL YOU WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR EACH PART.
THE BLUE TEXT WILL TELL YOU WHAT MARKS ARE GIVEN FOR EACH SECTION AND
MODULE.
APART FROM SECTION ONE, ALL SECTIONS CONTAIN A THEORY AND PRACTICAL
PART. SO IT IS BROKEN DOWN INTO THEORY AND PRACTICAL. THE THEORY IS WHAT
YOU WILL WRITE IN EACH SECTION OF THE PAPER. THE PRACTICAL IS WHAT YOU
WILL BE DOING ON THE COMPUTER IN THE EXAM.
You must do SECTION 1, 2 AND 3 ON THE PAPER. SECTION 3 HAS OPTIONS, EG THERE
ARE 5 DIFFERENT MODULES IN SECTION 3 AND YOU CAN PICK ANY 3 OF THESE.

NOTE: Most of the Theory Questions that come up in this Word Processing Section are very straight
forward and you will know how to perform most items on the list as you perform these functions
everyday in class. However in all theory parts you are not actually carrying out the task of E.G. Changing
the page Layout from Portrait to Landscape, you are actually ‘explaining in writing’ on paper to the
examiner how you ‘would’ do it. Remember you can quickly check on your computer in front of you in
the Exam, where the button is to help you explain it. But, as the exam is long and you want to save as
much time as possible, it’s a good idea to go through this list and practise in your head, or on paper,
how you would explain it. Go through the ‘Drop down Menus’ to check what they are.
PRACTICAL: 70M: Revise the following:

Module 6 : Text Entry

THEORY: 10M: Revise the following:
1. Just ensure that you have a pencil, because you have to mark the paragraph with at least 10 errors.
There will probably be more than 10 errors, so try and get 12 or 13 and they will mark you for the
most correct 10 errors.
PRACTICAL: 70M: Revision the following
IN SUM: You will have to Proof read a document and pencil in 10 errors. You will have to produce a
document in Menu, Agenda or Notice style, maybe adding in a Picture or Border.
1. Know how to do‘double line spacing’ or ‘single line’ spacing.
2. Know how to do little symbols such as a €,½,²,° etc..
3. Know how to enhance/change text e.g. font, size, word art, clip art, insert clip art, centre, overall
presentation is important here. etc…

IN SUMMARY
1. Go through the list of what you need to know for each section. Practise writing or
doing each task on the computer.
2. Revise all the notes for each section.
3. Practise all your exam papers to date e.g. 2009,2008,2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003,
2002,2001
4. Get familiar with the Layout of the Paper and what you have to do in each section.
