On behalf of the Simon-Camiling families, we sincerely welcome and thank you for joining us on this joyous occasion to celebrate the 90th birthday of a remarkable woman of simple means and humble beginnings who endured and overwhelmingly conquered the obstacles and difficulties in raising a very big family. Today, this wonderful woman who, amazingly became an American citizen at the golden age of 87, is leading a simple, healthful and peaceful life and enjoying the bountiful fruits of her sincere prayers, her dreams, her hard work and her keen determination to have a better life for her caring children and their respective families. Dear Lord, we are gathered again this afternoon to collect our thoughts and celebrate the 89 th birthday of Pacencia Simon Viuda de Camiling, a loyal wife, a loving mother, a caring grandmother and a very good great grandmother. We also manifest our undying loyalty, our most sincere devotion and eternal thanksgiving for all your blessings. In loving memory of our relatives and friends who departed ahead of us and joined your Perpetual Kingdom, may they rest in peace forever. For those who are sick and those who are in need of assistance, please strengthen their faith in your Benevolence and alleviate their pains and sufferings. More importantly, we humbly appeal to your goodness to extol all the activities we planned for this occasion and please guide us to a safe journey when we all return to our homes later this evening. III – DINNER IV - INTRODUCTION OF THE SIMON-CAMILING FAMILIES PAGE 1 Birthday Celebrant – PACENCIA SIMON VIUDA DE CAMILING Our 90th birthday celebrant today is my loving grandma, the former Pacencia Simon y de Jesus who was born in Apalit, Pampanga on April 1, 1911 to the spouses Barrio Chieftain Simeon Torres Simon and Teodora de Jesus y Gonzalez. She married the late Agaton Mangio Camiling of Bacolor, Pampanga in 1931 and raised 12 children at Pasudeco Compound (Campamento) in San Fernando, Pampanga. Widowed at a time when four of her younger sons were still in grade school, she managed to encourage and inspire her grown-up children to work hard and help their younger siblings in pursuing higher education and in their day to day living. All of her eight living children and their families are with us today to honor their beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Note: The children (including their families) of Agaton and Pacencia S. Camiling will be called to center stage and be introduced one at a time from the youngest to the oldest. JAIME or Jimmy as he is popularly known is married to the former Maria Luisa Cruz of Manila. They have two lovely young daughters named Jennifer, an honor student at a private school in Long Beach and Jamie Lou who also excel in her studies in the same school. FEDERICO or Ferdie as he is called by many is married to the former Myrna Estacion of Cavite and Manila. They have two charming and intelligent daughters named Melissa and Mariel. BIENVENIDO or Ben as he is fondly called is married to the former Nemencia Sitchon of Apalit, Pampanga. They have six children namely, Journald, Juliet, Joan, Bienvenido Jr., Mary Jane and Jonathan. The eldest son, Journald joined the United States Navy and he is presently based in San Diego, California. Juliet is now an outstanding junior at California State University in Long Beach, California while the rest of the siblings, Joan, Bienvenido Jr., Mary Jane and Jonathan are also honor students in city schools in Bellflower, California. RESTITUTO or Resty for short is married to the former Loreta Rayat of Alaminos, Pangasinan. They also have a lovely and intelligent daughter named April Michele who graduated valedictorian in junior high school two years ago. As always, she is at the top of her sophomore class at Notre Dame Academy in the bay area. EDILBERTO, nicknamed as Berting who died in 1993, married the former Leonor Gabriel. This union produced six children namely, Rodel, Raquel, Rommel, Joel, Joviel and Liezle. The late Edilberto has also two other young sons named Bernard and Ivan. All of them reside in the Philippines except for Raquel and Liezle who work as professional singers/musicians in Tokyo, Japan. The 6th offspring, LORENZO and the 7th child, RUBEN, both died at very young age. REGINALDO or Narding is married to the former Esperanza Bondoc of Mexico, Pampanga and their five sons are Joseph, Ricardo, Jesse, Rowen and Elmer. PAGE 1 Joseph, a graduate of the University of the Philippines is a successful businessman in Angeles City. Jesse and Rowen are with the United States Navy while Ricardo, a Sociology undergraduate from Assumption University and Elmer are living with their parents in Bellflower, California MILAGROS or Agros for short, is married to Mateo Cabrera of Apalit, Pampanga and their eight children are Myrna, Manuelito, Marcelino, Marisa, Maritess, Mercedes and Merle. Auntie Agros is blessed with more than twenty grandchildren in the Philippines. Manuelito, Marcelino and their sisters’ husbands are all working in Saudi Arabia while their spouses and children reside in Apalit, Pampanga. DOMINGO or Doming is married to the former Yolanda Dayrit Mercado of Apalit, Pampanga and they have seven children, Lito, Alex, Teresita, Rosalind, Domingo Jr., Ronald and Josephine. Uncle Doming and Auntie Landa worked so hard to send their children to college. Lito is a Business Administration graduate of the University of the East , Alex and Domingo Jr. are both electrical engineers who graduated from Far Eastern University and Mapua Institute of Technology, respectively. Teresita and Josephine are both registered nurses. Domingo Jr. lives with his wife and with a young son in Naples, Italy and the rest of the Mercado-Camiling siblings reside in Metro Manila, Philippines. ALEJANDRO, my dad, married my mom, the former Teresita Manalansan Zuniga of Lubao, Pampanga. They have four children and six grandchildren. Their four children who all attended the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, and their six grandchildren are: Theresa, a HUD Supervising Community Builder in Santa Ana, California, yours truly of course, is married to Frank Gutierrez, an investment counselor at Stanley Morgan Corporation. We have two bright and lovely daughters, Lee-Lee and Lauren. Ador, a doctor of dental surgery has offices in general dentistry in Arcadia and Paramount, California. Alain, who is currently working at University of Southern California in Los Angeles as a business/budget analyst is married to a surgical nurse, the former Anna Sybil Giles. They have two good-looking sons, Aaron and Austin. Leanne Marie, an elementary school teacher like my mom, is married to Marlon Marquez, an electronic and electrical engineer who graduated from UCLA. They also have a beautiful daughter named Elizabeth Anne and a very handsome young son named Brandon Alessandro. ROSARIO (deceased) married Agustin Indiongco of Apalit, Pampanga and their seven living children are Amelia, Tita, Beth, Arlene, Benito, Cristina and Rose.
