business (IB) model?

principles of an inclusive business (IB) model; the actions taken to integrate the IB principles within the
corporate strategy; The type of goals/targets/KPls/milestones set by the company in this regard; how this has
been communicated to staff and to ‘stakeholders’; etc.

2. Deliberate Integration of the low income segments in your enterprise’s value chain:
Please elaborate on the extent to which your enterprise has deliberately integrated those people who live at
the ‘Base of the Pyramid’ (BoP) into its business model or value chain. (Maximum score: 20%)
Topics that could be covered include: Who are those being targeted and where across the value chain: suppliers,
producers, distributors, partners, entrepreneurs, consumers, employees etc? A typical example of a value chain is
provided in the brochure. What percentage of the business model’s customers/suppliers/beneficiaries is from the
low-income segments?

3. Depth of Impact, relevance to the BOP, and demonstrate social impact and benefits (Maximum Score:
25%):
Please summarise the main social impacts and benefits of your company’s inclusive business model,
including how the company has improved the lives of the entrepreneurs, suppliers, distributors, retailers
or customers at the BoP (e.g., is the degree of increased income sufficient? Is the access to the company’s
products/services more affordable/sustainable? Etc), and where applicable, how it has enabled financing
or capacity building to the suppliers, distributors, retailers, or customers at the BoP.
What is the impact on the environment (e.g., resources being saved/reinvigorated; impact on carbon
emissions, biodiversity, etc)?

Please summarise the most innovative and ground-breaking features of your enterprise’s inclusive
business model. What are the innovative ways used to reach the BoP (for instance, did the company
adapt/transform its products/services to serve an existing or new market)?
You may also elaborate on: What did your enterprise do to open up opportunities for those who lack economic
power integrate the company’s value chain? Was the innovation adopted disruptive enough to change paradigm
in one or more of your target markets? Did the company’s initiative include the creation of life-enhancing
offerings? Did the company come up with the new ideas that can excite and inspire others? To what extent the
company has leveraged non-traditional partnerships (with the local communities, NGOs, government, etc) in its
endeavours to achieve its targets?

Please explain whether the adoption of inclusive business practices is proving to be financially sustainable.
What have been the results so far (in terms of increase in revenue and profits, commercial viability,
creation of value for the company)? Do the results achieved so far by the business contribute meaningfully
to the company’s bottom line?
If the company has yet to benefit from the model, when will profitability be restored? What measures have been
taken to ensure the viability/sustainability of the whole initiative?

6. Scalability and potential for growth and replicability (Maximum Score: 10%)
Please summarise the enterprise’s inclusive business model’s catalytic effect (for instance, can the model
accommodate additional growth and/or expansion or is it limited to a finite extent?) Can it reach deeper
into the low-income segment of the population by extending the activities further?
You may also wish to elaborate on whether there is potential for local, regional, or international replication,
citing any major barriers that have been or would need to be overcome. Can model be replicated with ease in
other markets?
