Continental: Wide Range of Winter Tires for
Passenger Cars
 Tires supported operation of driver assistance systems
 Test editorial teams provide recommendations for Continental winter tires
Hanover/Jeversen, October 2012. Continental can provide winter tires for virtually all
passenger cars. The ContiWinterContact TS 830 P was specially developed for more
powerful cars, while the ContiWinterContact TS 850 was designed for mid-range vehicles.
Both models supported the control actions of assistance systems such as ESC. The
ContiWinterContact TS 800 has proved to be a great performer on vehicles from the compact
class. With the ContiWinterContact TS 810 S, the market leader offers additional sizes for
particularly sporty cars. In tests conducted by the trade press, winter tires from Continental
received the highest ratings or were rated "highly recommended". Thanks to the wide range
of sizes, virtually all vehicles supplied to Europe can be fitted with winter tires produced by
the market leader.
The ContiWinterContact TS 830 P: For mid-range and luxury vehicles
The ContiWinterContact TS 830 P is an extremely well-balanced winter tire designed by
Continental's tire developers. In addition, the asymmetric, load-distributing tread was
designed so that the outside of the tire, with its stable pads, provides firm grip when
cornering and responds sensitively to steering commands. The inside of the tire has been
designed so that the individual parts of the tread form a large number of gripping edges to
provide maximum power transfer for starting and braking on snowy or icy road surfaces. The
numerous channels between the tread bars ensure quick and safe drainage of the ground
contact area in wet conditions.
To ensure that the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) chassis intervention is transferred as
directly as possible, the ContiWinterContact TS 830 P has been equipped with 0-degree
sinusoidal siping, designed to transfer longitudinal forces. Lateral forces can also be
transferred very effectively with these sipes so that the steering and braking commands are
directly applied, even in vehicles that are not fitted with an ESC. The asymmetrical
distribution of the tread bars significantly improves handling on both snow and dry roads. The
tire also generates less rolling noise as a result. Thanks to the balanced tire contour and

uniform abrasion resistance, it can sustain its safe road performance throughout its entire
lifetime.
The new ContiWinterContact TS 850: For the compact and lower mid-range
The new ContiWinterContact TS 850 will be launched in the fall with a wide range of
innovative technical features. Its directional tread has been designed to offer a high level of
grip to ensure safe interlocking with snow and ice. The new winter tire from Continental also
offers a high degree of safety on dry and wet roads. In addition, the tire structure has been
further developed to reduce rolling resistance even further. At its launch, the new winter tire
from the market leader received recommendations from all the automotive magazines and
consumer organizations taking part in the winter tire tests in Germany.
The ContiWinterContact TS 810 S: A great choice for fast cars and sports cars
The ContiWinterContact TS 810 Sport is designed for tautly tuned cars with powerful
engines. Thanks to an extremely asymmetrical tread design, it offers optimal drivability under
all wintry road conditions, outstanding handling characteristics on dry and wet roads and a
wide margin of safety on snow-covered roads. The high-tech winter tire is available in some
sizes as an SSR model with runflat capabilities. The ContiWinterContact TS 810 Sport will be
available next winter in a wide range for rims with diameters of up to 19 inches. It is approved
for speeds of up to 270 km/h.
Ideal for compact cars: ContiWinterContact TS 800
With the ContiWinterContact TS 800, the Continental range now boasts a safe winter tire for
compacts. With outstanding handling and short braking distances on wet, snow-covered, or
icy roads, the new tire is a real all-round winter performer for cars such as the Skoda Fabia,
VW Polo, Ford Fiesta, and Opel Corsa. The tire delivers a wide margin of safety, which is
due primarily to the further development of the tried-and-tested honeycomb siping in
combination with a V-shaped groove structure and an innovative compound concept. In last
year's ADAC, Stiftung Warentest, ÖAMTC, and TCS ratings, the compact car tire received
the best score ("highly recommended") and took first place.
