Applying Mental Imagery to Enhance Health and Wellbeing 14 December 2011- Melbourne (Rendezvous Hotel) The application of mental imagery in the enhancement of health and wellbeing will be presented in innovative and practical ways. Mental imagery is a widely utilised evidence-based tool in health and performance, and is an effective intervention to enhance personal effectiveness in the attainment of a broad range of goals. The approach provides practitioners with a strategy for assisting clients to generate better self-images, sustain positive change, and increase capacity to pursue their potential. The workshop material draws upon insights from neuroscience, as well as health, performance and positive psychology -- providing tools for practitioners working in a wide variety of settings, across the spectrum of human endeavour and challenge. Case studies will be featured to demonstrate imagery applications. Participants will also be provided the opportunity to practice and discuss how they might incorporate imagery strategies with their clients. She is former chair of the APS College of Sport and Exercise Psychologists and is currently the Coordinator for the Happiness and Positive Psychology course, a core component of the online Masters of Wellness program at RMIT University; and developed and teaches modules in the Positive Psychology and Coaching specialization at the Australian College of Applied Psychology. She formerly held a tenured position at University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), where she developed and taught: Health Promotion; Current Issues in Health and Wellbeing, Youth Health, and Sport Psychology (1999-2009). Nicole has provided extensive clinical treatment services within public and private settings. Her experience ranges across common psychological problems impacting upon adults, couples, families and children including depression, anxiety, stress disorders and health issues, such as pain. Nicole has published in the area of Borderline Personality Disorder. She has provided a supervisory role for groups of clinicians for clients presenting with complex co-morbid disorders.
