Department of Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion 2014 UMMS SALARY INCREASE PROGRAM INFORMATION DATE: July 3, 2014 FROM: Compensation We are pleased to announce the implementation of the 2014 UMMS Salary Increase Program. Increases of 2% will be effective July 1, 2014 and reflected in the employee paychecks of July 18, 2014. Eligibility: 1. Regular non-unit employees and faculty members hired prior to January 1, 2014 are eligible for this program. The following employee groups are excluded from the salary increase program: union employees other than NAGE; Postdoctoral Associates; Dual Docs; Faculty on a single contract; Interns; Residents; Students; temporary employees; and per diem staff. 2. An employee must be an active employee on July 18, 2014 in order to receive a salary increase. 3. Employees who have given notice or who are given notice of termination by the University will not be eligible for the salary increase program even if they are a current employee on July 18, 2014. 4. Departments should notify Compensation at denise.raskett@umassmed.edu if they are notified of a change in an employee’s eligibility. 5. Employees must have a satisfactory rating. Please review the table below to determine the level of performance that should be achieved. Employee Group NAGE, Non-Unit Professional, and Non- Unit Classified MassBiologic Labs Faculty Rating Description Meets Most Expectations/ Needs Some Improvement or Above Meets Expectations or Above Demonstrated Satisfactory 6. An employee on an authorized leave of absence who has worked a minimum of six months between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2013 is eligible for a salary increase upon return to active status. Department of Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion Salary Calculation: 1. Non-Unit and NAGE salary ranges have been increased by 2% effective July 1, 2014. If an employees’ base salary is below the new minimum of the grade, their salary will be increased to the new minimum before granting the salary increase. 2. If the salary increase for a Non-Unit or NAGE employee results in the employee reaching the maximum of the salary grade, a portion or all of the increase will be in the form of a lump sum payment. 3. The salary increase will be applied to each eligible employee’s July 1, 2014 salary. Probationary Employee Increases: 1. Non-Exempt non- unit employees hired between January 1, 2014 and July 1, 2014 will be eligible for an increase of up to 1% effective the first Sunday of the next full pay period following the successful completion of his/her probationary period. A completed Probationary Performance Appraisal with original signatures must be attached to a completed Personnel Action Form to implement the probationary increase. 2. Employees hired after July 1, 2014 as well as all exempt employees and faculty regardless of hire date will not be eligible for a probationary increase but will be eligible for the next salary increase cycle.
