Ancient Egypt Chapter 7-9, 10.2-10.5 Exam Mr. Quinn Name: For the exam, you must respond to 5 of 9 questions below using the short-answer format discussed in class on your own paper. You may use your notes. No outlines may be used. No answers can be prewritten- notes will be turned in at the end of the test. The first part must contain an introduction sentence, 2 points min. with explanation and examples/details about the Egypt part of the question. This is followed by a transition, 2 points min. with explanation and examples/details about the present comparison part of the question. This paragraph must end with a statement of importance as a conclusion. For example: Introduction Old New Conclusion Old Star Wars compares to new Star Wars in many ways including the quality of special effects and the plots. To receive full credit, you must include the elements listed above and write with the high quality standards of the class: logic, clarity, labeling, handwriting and mechanics (spelling, capitalization, punctuation). 1. Describe how water, topography, and vegetation influenced early settlements in ancient Egypt. What issues around water, topography or vegetation do modern cities face? 2. Describe what hieroglyphics were and some examples of how other cultures have used symbols in their languages? 3. Which pharaoh left a bigger impression on history and made the most impact during ancient Egyptian time: Pharaoh Senusret or Hatshepsut? Give a specific example of a current leader with the same amount of influence and explain their impact. 4. How did the three seasons affect Egyptian peasants? Use specific details from your research to discuss what factors affect the low-income population in America today. 5. Describe Egypt’s social pyramid. What were the classes, and how does it compare to the present social structure? 6. If you were an ancient Egyptian priest, what duty would you most want to be in charge of and why? What duties do priests in modern religions have that are similar to these ancient priests? 7. Draw a picture of the Egyptian pyramids OR sphinx on your test answer paper. Use your research to label your choice with a maximum of 10 facts and historical information as can be found. Next, draw a modern structure that compares and label it with the same information (10 max.) 8. Use an iPad to come up with and record a song that you create about the events in 10.2, 10.4, and 10.5. The song must be at least 90 seconds long and contain an explanation of the events with details. This song is to be created in class and emailed to taquinn@osd.wednet.edu when complete. 9.
