Banner Security Primer

Ali explained the basics of security in Banner. He
explained that security is controlled via classes.
Basically, the security manager creates classes
and based on what the user needs database
objects, such as Forms, and Jobs are put into that
class. Each object that is in a class can have
attribute of M (maintenances) Q (query).

Then user ids are created and they are enrolled in
the classes. Based on the functional area that the
user is working in or based on what he needs to
do in banner he will be put in multiple classes.
A meeting is scheduled with Judi to determine
what database the security will be set up. Most
likely it will be the training database. In this
meeting we will also discus the importance of
loading the SPRIDEN table and when this should
be done in relation to other loads.
Ali passed out a sample class that can be used to
set up users to perform vendor maintenance in
Banner.
