He undertakes a number of actions in the play that we view as morally terrible. Upon closer inspection, each of these crimes is actually committed by Othello as well. Task: Find examples of when both Othello and Iago undertake each of the following actions: Claims he is driven by jealousy Does something bad in exchange for money Betrays another’s trust in him. Othello Jealous of the relationship between Desdemona and Cassio He is a mercenary for the state. He uses his “talents” to advance his position. Emilia, Cassio, Roderigo, Othello Betrays a trust place in and Desdemona all trust Iago him by another blindly.
