Department of Education as a comprehensive National Resource Center for Foreign Language and International Studies. Programs and research are focused on a variety of international development topics, including development assistance policy, food and hunger, environment, health, and poverty. CASID promotes and coordinates the work of faculty and students interested in international development from the perspective of the social sciences and liberal arts. The center engages in a variety of activities to enhance undergraduate and graduate instruction, encourage multidisciplinary research, improve the quality of scholarship, and disseminate knowledge offcampus – all with a focus on development issues that cut across geographic areas, such as working to improve the health, education, and living conditions of the world’s poor.
