CLASS PARTICIPATION Individual Responsibilities On Time/Passes: If you are late for an excused reason, I expect a late pass to be submitted. If you need to make a visit to a nurse, guidance counselor, school counselor, etc, you MUST come to class first to get permission and a pass. Keep track of time during our class so that you do not need passes to your next class. This is particularly important on days when you are in the darkroom. Allow 10 minutes for clean up. Food: If you need to eat lunch during this class, please remember two guidelines: -you cannot be late to class because you were buying lunchbring it from home or take advantage of “grab and go.” -you must finish eating you lunch by the completion of the class introduction. -NO FOOD IN THE DARKROOM Attire: What you are wearing (or not wearing!) should not be distracting to the class. Visible undergarments will be asked to be covered. Remember the three “B’s.” Equipment: Students will sign out photographic equipment as needed. Students are responsible for this equipment and acknowledge that they must return it in the condition in which it was received. Students must replace any damaged equipment. Studio Clean-up: Please engage in the following procedures everyday: - put your work on your shelf - borrowed materials should be (cleaned and) put back WHERE YOU FOUND THEM. -all garbage should be thrown away -before you walk out of the door, LOOK BACK. If anything is left on your table, come back and take care of it. Darkroom Clean Up: Students will be provided with a list of tasks to be completed in order to clean up the darkroom. Group Responsibilities Needless to say, it is expected that you will be in class, everyday, from bell to bell, working feverishly. Of equal significance is your role in the group. It is the job of each of you to support each other, give input in appropriate ways at appropriate times, receive input without being defensive and to provide each other with assistance. Course Outline Each quarter students will: -complete two assignments in the darkroom, as well as one studio assignment in the classroom. -maintain a photo journal -view and write a review of a video on a renown photographer. HOMEWORK When a role of film is due, it is essential that it is handed in on time. In order to complete projects, students must have ample time in the darkroom. This may require you to attend extra help and/or use the darkroom on free periods. Students must attain permission to use the darkroom at times other than class-time PHOTO JOURNAL Each student will be maintaining a class sketchbook that will be used for class notes, homework assignments, project brainstorming, etc. This sketchbook MUST be with students EVERY day. Sketchbooks will be check 2x a quarter and will account for approximately 25% of your quarter grade. Sketchbooks will be graded on completeness, organization and punctuality. When students are absent it is your responsibility to attain the missing information (from the class website or a classmate).
