Environmental Policy Statement
Protecting our environment is of fundamental importance to B&B Lighting Supply
Inc., as it is to our employees and customers. Our goal is to Reduce, Reuse, and
Recycle. To support this common goal we will:




Comply with all applicable local, state, and federal environmental
regulations.
Continually improve the environmental performance of our products and
processes.
Protect the health and safety of our employees and surrounding
communities.
Use natural resources, including raw materials, energy, and water as
efficiently as possible.
We will work to achieve these commitments by:



Requiring environmental awareness training of all our employees.
Evaluating products and processes from the point of view of chemical risk,
dedicating ourselves to finding better alternatives based on preventing
pollution in the first place.
Working collaboratively with our customers, suppliers, and the
surrounding community on environmental issues.
We will make every effort to ensure that environmental performance is an
integral part of B&B Lighting Supply Inc.’s performance and the performance of
all our employees. To this end, we will measure and periodically report on our
progress in realizing these commitments.

Environmental Team
We have an environmental team to improve our overall company practices. The
team consists of the entire company at this point, and is headed by Sharon
Bradford, President/CEO. The team reviews company policies and makes
recommendations for improving environmental efficiency. As of right now, the
team meets weekly.
Environmentally Preferable Procurement
We actively seek environmentally friendly products and encourage our vendors to
look for greener ways to improve their current offerings. Examples of how we
have done this are by helping area schools “go green.” We were part of having
The Green School in Baltimore, MD 21213 become a totally green school. We
have also helped the following schools start to “go green”: Woodlawn High
School in Baltimore, MD 21207, Glenelg High School in Glenelg, MD 22737, and
Edgewood High School in Edgewood, MD 21040.
Environmentally Preferable Products and Services
We are a green lighting company. We choose products and services that are
designed to promote energy conservation. We are also part of the BGE Smart
Energy Savers Program.
In addition, our facility is a recycling drop off location for all types of fluorescent
lights, PCB ballasts, and batteries. We also offer our customers a pickup service
for these products.
WASTE
Recycling
Our office recycles paper, plastic, aluminum cans, cardboard, batteries, PCB and
non-PCB ballasts, compact fluorescent light bulbs, and fluorescent tubes. We
also serve as a drop-off location for materials as listed above.
In 2009, B&B Lighting Supply Inc. recycled 50 lbs. of paper a month, 100 lbs. of
cardboard boxes a month, 475 Fluorescent lamps, 105 Ballasts, and 25 lbs. of
batteries.
