Arthur Lavin MD Julie Hertzer MD Kelley Muldoon Rieger APRN, PNP Arthur Lavin, MD, FAAP, is a pediatrician in private practice and an associate clinical professor of pediatrics at Case Medical School in Cleveland, Ohio. He was trained and then taught at Harvard and MIT in pediatrics and the is also board certified as a sub-specialist in newborn medicine. He has published original research in such journals as Science. He is the leading author of Baby and Toddler Sleep Solutions for Dummies (Wiley, 2007) which is distributed across the US, Europe, and Japan. He is also the coauthor of Who’s the Boss: Moving Families from Conflict to Collaboration (Collaboration Press, 2006), a book presenting a new paradigm of parenting and specific guidance on managing the most common challenges of parenting young children such as toilet training, sibling rivalry, and discipline. Dr. Lavin has established a reputation in the ability to apply the best of emerging neuroscience into actual practice. He has studied neuroscience for over 25 years in response to the rising incidence of autism, attentional disorders, and other forms of cognitive dysfunction. In 2006, he was the first professional in the United States to introduce work completed in Sweden’s Karolinska Brain Institute. This innovative breakthrough has established proof that it can change a key cognitive capacity of the mind, working memory. In 2007, Dr. Lavin was recognized by SharpBrains, a research & advisory firm devoted to helping individuals, companies, health providers, investors, and policy makers understand and participate in the emerging brain fitness field through a variety of market-intelligence products and services. SharpBrains selected Dr. Lavin to join the nation's top neuroscience experts for their interview series on applications of neuroscience. Others of the fifteen included Dr. Elkhonon Goldberg, whose mentor, Dr Alexander Luria created the field of neuro-psychology, as well as leading neuroscience experts from Israel, Japan, Sweden, and around the US. Microsoft showcased Dr. Lavin’s office, Advanced Pediatrics, in its launch of Office 2003. In 1998, Dr. Lavin accepted an invitation by the United States government to participate in an overseas health partner mission. Dr. Lavin is married and has three children.
