Personal
Born: 02/14/82, Portsmouth, NH
Currently living and working in San Francisco, CA after seven years living in Burlington,
VT. Relocated to Vermont in August of 2004 on military orders to serve in the VT Army
National Guard after fours years of active duty service stationed in Fort Sill, OK and a
tour of duty in the Iraq War. In September 2004 began apprenticing paper and book arts
at the Green Door Studio Artist Collective and became the Managing Director in 2006.
During this time sought and completed a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Forestry from
the University of Vermont, graduating with honors, Co-founded the Combat Paper
Project in May 2007, and began to facilitate veterans and communities in traditional hand
papermaking process, technique and application. Combat Paper Project has led to
numerous editions, exhibitions, workshop events and the establishment of affiliated paper
mills across the country that are facilitating workshops in an ongoing manner. Drew
recently partnered in the establishment of Shotwell Paper Mill in San Francisco, CA
where he facilitates ongoing programming and the creation of new artwork.
