COURSE OUTLINE Title: NREMT-Paramedic Recertification Course Course Number: EMT-214 Credits: 5 Date: 11/23/2005 Institution: Clackamas Community College Outline Developed by: Darren Olson, Health Sciences Department Type of Program: Professional/Technical Course Description: This course will provide the reregistration (A.K.A. – recertification) requirements for EMT-Paramedics registered with the National Registry of EMT’s (NREMT). Also, this course may be used for completion of EMT-Paramedics refresher as approved by DHS EMS. Designed for the Paramedic who: 1) needs to reregister with the NREMT, 2) may have allowed certification to lapse, 3) needs additional instruction in order to pass the certification test. Course Objectives: To provide quality instruction in the core content and skills of the EMT-Paramedic while meeting the 48 hour Section 1A and 1B requirements for NREMTParamedic reregistration and the Oregon EMT-Paramedic 32-hour refresher course. Student Learning Outcomes: The student should: Refine their EMS knowledge base Build and improve emergency medical skills Fulfill 48 hour Section 1A and 1B requirements to reregister with NREMT Refresh AHA CPR certification Refresh AHA ACLS certification Length of Course: 48 total classroom hours, with 32 lecture hours and 16 lab hours Grading Method: A-F Prerequisites: Current or expired EMT-P certification, or has successfully completed a Paramedic course Required Text: American Heart Association CPR for Healthcare Providers; AHA ACLS textbook; A current Paramedic textbook Major Topic Outline: I.
