Many local plants are closely related to tribal people, from which people can recognize how the ancestors managed the land and natural resources, and also learn about their life wisdom. Since many knowledge of ethno plants has gradually vanished in the tribe, we tried to combine the ecological knowledge of ethno plants through understanding the physical environment and lifestyle of Heping tribe. Excluding searching the relationship between folk plants and tribal people, this study also tried to identify whether these folk plants can play the role of environmental education and environmental restoration in Wufeng township. The more aggressive purpose is to restore ecology and reshape the landscape of the tribe. In this study, the method adopted in three ways, one for field surveys and interviews with seniors, record existing plants in the tribe, and pick out the planting species which used in the daily life of the tribal residents, assess their feasibility used in environmental restoration. Landslide area and the potential mudslide area will be recorded and the vegetation species will be noted in potential collapse zone. The second way is to build folk plants archives in different categories, according to the tribe's use of plants, sorted out plant archives which related to the folk culture and tribe’s living. And the planting data will be used as future environmental education materials. The third way is planting experiment of folk plants, four planting materials were chosen in the first stage, to compare the growth and adaptation to the environment by scientific experiments. In terms of culture and education, study will establish folk plant database of Heping tribe, and organize information into teaching archives of primary and secondary schools, to heritage local knowledge through environmental education. In terms of environmental management, intended to replace unsuitable species with deep rooted folk plant species for ecological benefits. Finally, in terms of disaster prevention, will carry out environmental restoration with ethno plants for potential landslide disaster zone.
