City Name—Texans really do love libraries! This spring, 501 Texas libraries joined libraries across
the country in participating in Library Snapshot Day. This event, sponsored by the Texas Library
Association, was created to let all types of libraries record information about what happens in a
day in the life of a library. In Texas, libraries in school campuses, colleges and universities,
government and corporate settings, and in cities and counties were able to pick one day
between April 26 and May 7 to hold the event.
[Insert paragraph about your library. Use your library’s snapshot information.]
At the XX library, which serves xxx [e.g., students/faculty, members of the public, etc. – however
you want to define your service population], Snapshot Day was held on XX. During that day, the
library received xx visitors onsite, xx Web visitors, and circulated xx materials.
One enthusiastic library visitor said, “include customer quote.”
Library Director xx says, “ [example quote] Our library serves our customers/students in so many
ways. During our Snapshot Day, we were able to capture the energy and vitality in programming
and services. [Provide a couple of sentences explaining how capturing a day in the life of your
library highlights the important role it plays for the people it serves.]”
The statistics gathered included a count of in-person and virtual visitors to libraries, the number
of books and audio visual materials borrowed, and data on the reason why people use libraries.
The purpose of Texas Library Snapshot Day was to capture the diversity of services and
programming at the state’s libraries.
ABOUT PARTICIPATING LIBRARIES
Of the 501 libraries participating in Texas Library Snapshot Day, 21 were academic libraries, 109
