While releasing the timetable in Juba, Undersecretary in the National Education Ministry – Michael Lopuke Lotiam said the exams will be written from the 27th of April to the 7th of May. Lopuke says the examinations are based on the Sudanese curriculum, but the students will be issued with South Sudan certificates. He says Eastern Equatoria and Abyei have not provided candidates this year because they have started implementing the South Sudan curriculum. Oliver Mule says Liwolo and Nyepo payams have been occupied by the herders, causing fear amongst the farmers. An ongoing polio vaccination campaign is progressing well in Central Equatoria. The State ministry of health this week launched a 3 day door-to-door vaccination campaign for all children under the age of 5 years. The campaign that ends today, targets more than three hundred thousand (300.000) children in all six counties. Spokesperson for the South Sudan National Police Service, Col Monay Enoka told Radio Miraya that the appropriate equipment to make the cards has now been delivered from the United Kingdom with the assistance of the United Nations Development Programme. He says impersonating a police officer is a crime and every officer will soon carry a valid ID to properly identify themselves. The problem we had was how to print these cards. You need special devices such as the existing machines with the department of Immigration. Early this week the police officers had given the State Police commissioner 5 days to pay their arrears of January, February and March – threatening to strike if they did not receive payment. Police Commissioner Cosia Kedit Mortat says the delay was because of an administrative irregularity in Juba, which has since been resolved. Mortat says salaries for January and February are being paid out, while payments for March will be made soon. Still in Lakes, four people have been killed in an attack on a cattle camp in Majak-Ajok –Rumbek Center. Police commissioner Cosia Kedit Mortat says a group of armed men raided the camp inhabited by members of the Ruop community - late last night.
