Dear Colleagues,
We invite you to attend the IV International Conference
"Fieldpractice in Higher Education System,"
dedicated to
the 80th anniversary of Geological Faculty of St. Petersburg State University
the 60th anniversary of the Crimean educational geological practice
and the memory of Professor V. Prozorovskiy
The conference will be held in late July - early August 2012
(tentative dates - from 29.07.2012 to 02.08.2012)
on the basis of Representative Office of SPBSU in the Crimea, Ukraine
(v. Trudoljubovka of Bakhchisarai District)
In 2012, we’ll celebrate 60th anniversary of the Crimean geological practice founded by St.
Petersburg State University!
The 1st and 2nd conferences, attended by experts from all Russia, Ukraine, Germany,
Belgium, Poland, have been held on the basis of Representative Office of St. Petersburg State
University in the Crimea in summers 2002 and 2007, respectively. The events had a great response
and contributed to the development of educational practice at many universities. Subjects of the first
conference were focused on geological practice, whereas those of the second one were substantially
expanded: the problems of geographical and geobotanical, environmental, geophysical,
archaeological, and other practices were considered. During the 2nd Crimea conference it was
decided to organize interim meetings in other regions (in 2009 the 3rd conference was held
successfully in Altai). Colleagues from Novosibirsk created website dedicated to the field practices.
Taking into account the process of integrating of sciences and development of new directions at the
intersection of the natural sciences and humanities, we suggest to continue the discussion of a wide
range of topics related to the organization and holding of field practices in various areas of science.
The Fourth International Conference on Fieldpractice is dedicated to the memory of
Vladimir Anatolyevich Prozorovskiy - Professor of Department of Historical Geology SPbSU,
Doctor of geological-mineralogical sciences, bright, outstanding personality who did a lot for the
development of the Crimean educational practice. In June 27, 2012 Vladimir Anatolyevich would
be 80 years old.
Topics:
 The history of educational fieldpractices;
 Fieldpractice in high school learning process;
 Student practice in the development of the sciences and humanities;
 Fieldpractices: Methodological aspects of the organization
 Scientific tourism and tours;
 Geology, biology, ecology, archeology of the Crimea;
 Prospects for training fieldpractices’ development.
During the conference we suppose to organize tours through Trudoljubovka region
(Bakhchisaray and surrounding areas) - geology, geomorphology, ecology, soils and vegetation,
Archaeology of the Crimean Mountains. Various Mesozoic and Cenozoic marine deposits and
volcanic-sedimentary formations are located in the river Bodrak basin. The deposits represent a
great diversity of marine fauna remains (ammonites, belemnites, bivalves and gastropods, corals,
brachiopods, echinoderms, sponges, bryozoans). Due to the excellent rock outcrops we will be able
to see different tectonic structures like monoclinal, folded, ruptured, etc. The unique cuesta
topography is very typical for the Crimean Mountains. In South-West Crimea the modern
geological processes including earthquakes, landslides, erosion, etc are widely exhibited. Numerous
archaeological objects like ancient burials, cave "cities" (Baklinskoe cave fort on the river Bodrak,
cave monasteries of Chufut-Calais, Mangup-Calais, etc.) are of additional interest. All of this
determines the favorable conditions for practice performing and for studying the various topics of
geology, archeology and history.
At the end of the conference four-day tours to the Eastern and Western Crimea are planned to
be organized upon request:
(1) East Crimea, Kerch Peninsula. Neogene bryozoans’-algal reefs, Bulganak mud volcanoes, Opuk
Nature Reserve (Neogene open cut, Neotectonics, Koyashskoe mud salt lake, excavations of ancient
Kimmerika).
(2) Western Crimea, Tarkhankut Peninsula. Dzhangulskoe landslide coast, cliffs, caves, remains of
ancient Greek settlements, old lighthouse.
The conference will be held on the basis of Representative Office of SPBSU in the Crimea,
Ukraine (v. Trudoljubovka, Bakhchisaray district).
