STEPHEN LAWRENCE CHARITABLE TRUST JOB DESCRIPTION JOB: Smarter Communities Programme Co-ordinator (Full-Time) ACCOUNTABLE TO: Programme Manager (Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust) ACCOUNTABLE FOR: No line management responsibility MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB 1. In line with the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust’s (SLCT) Smarter Communities programme strategy, co-ordinate the development and delivery of high quality projects, activities and events to achieve programme targets. 2. To work with SLCT staff and partners to ensure that the outputs and outcomes agreed with the Big Lottery Fund are achieved on time and within budget. 3. To ensure that programme monitoring and reporting is carried out on a monthly basis. Salary level: £30,000 pa, one year fixed term contract with option to extend (renewal subject to annual review of funding by the Big Lottery Fund) for four years. Hours: 35 hours a week, some evening and weekend work required with arrangements for time off in lieu. Background: The objective of the Smarter Communities programme is to create opportunities for hard to reach and minority communities to realise their full potential through a blend of vocational training, creative learning and skill acquisition projects. The aim is to ensure that local communities and groups become smarter, more inclusive, more sustainable and better networked. The operational base is the Stephen Lawrence Centre, a community-based, purpose-built centre of educational excellence in Deptford, on the borders of the London Borough’s of Lewisham and Greenwich. The Centre enables the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust to expand the scope of its work with young people and communities whose opportunities are constrained by economic, cultural and social hardship. The Trust supports and encourages communities to engage in activities that give them a positive experience of citizenship, and provides opportunities for business to engage with and contribute to the social, environmental and economic development of the communities within which they operate; and help to promote community cohesion. The Smarter Communities stated aims are: 1. To deliver improved skills, better employability prospects and increased levels of confidence to people. Job Description In line with the Smarter Communities strategy, co-ordinate the development and delivery of all projects, activities and events required to deliver the overall programme targets. Agree with the Programme Manager the budget, scope, organisation, projects, activities and events required to ensure the programme targets are delivered on time and in budget. Develop and implement programme monitoring and reporting frameworks. Administrate, allocate and work within the agreed programme/project budgets and timeframes. Monitor, document and evaluate all programmes/projects undertaken as part of the programme in accordance with SLCT and the Big Lottery Funds requirements. Identify resources needed for programmes/projects and ensure that they are available at the appropriate time, including: ICT; technical assistance; equipment and materials; room/venue set-up; catering; and staffing. Identify suitable opportunities for publicising the programme in the media. Any other duties as required. Good experience of identifying and managing relationships with a range of partners Willingness to work flexibly, including some time at weekends and evenings Ability to use own initiative Desirable: Good experience of developing and maintaining project databases Good experience of establishing and managing steering groups Good experience of carrying out programme and or project evaluation.
