It covers the stories behind some of the famous quotes and legends about the Revolutionary War: http://www.historycentral.com/revolt/stories.html 8th Grade Social Studies: Green Team A Virtual Tour of The Revolutionary War: What Would You Choose to Visit? You are a tour guide. You have been asked to design “the perfect” tour of famous Revolutionary War landmarks. Your clients are interested in learning as much as possible about the American Revolution. They want to see where the major events happened and the homes of famous people of the era. It is your job to suggest the best places to go visit. You need to choose 10 sites and describe what they are, why they are important (i.e. what happened there); & why you chose that site. You should write a 4 sentence paragraph answering these questions for EACH site you choose. Also, for each landmark, make sure you label it, copy a picture & give the web address of the site. Format: You may simply write a description next to the picture & title of the landmark. Do use 12 pt. font. Save your work frequently. Aim to finish at least 4 landmarks per day. You may handwrite this, in which case you should create a Word file to save a small picture for each document so you can add it to your description. Hints: Check out the timeline of the Revolutionary War to help you organize your work. The tour does not have to be chronological, but it will help you to know (& write down) WHEN an event occurred. Do try to get a variety of different kinds of landmarks: military/battlegrounds; historically important buildings & the homes of famous people. The goal of this is to help you explore some of the resources that are available to students of American History. I didn’t include the hundreds of museums and libraries of documents. We’ll save those for another foray into the past! Time: We will have three days using the computers to complete this project. You may also work on it at home; however, every day in the lab I will need a list of which sites you have completed. This project will be due AFTER the winter break…however; I do not expect you to work on this over the break. Due date: January 10th, 2012
