Impact Item
Reaching out to local and national foundations. Working more closely with the local workforce development system.
Moving from critiquing workforce development to working with the system to systematically analyze and help
develop and more effective system.
Negotiating with local and national foundations. Working with new regional workforce development alliance to
secure funds and data, and talking with local economic development organizations. Received some funding from UW
Extension for specific initiatives.
Difficult to put dollar amounts on this. Negotiating for three years with one foundation and are not at dollar amounts
with two others. Have not gotten specifics with local agencies, but research is now actively on their agendas.
Next five and ten year periods should experience higher levels of funding for research regarding workforce training.
Increasing interest in creating new models of training, work, and skill needs.
Problems in workforce development 5/10 years likely to be very similar because we have such a large pool of undereducated and under-skilled individuals.
Will look at many of the same local and national foundations and agencies charged with addressing this population.
Very difficult to project. Working on creating a higher level of interest based on success on earlier projects.
