July 2013
Tuesday July 2
9:30am-Noon Clay Zombie Zoo with Sharon Lynch-Ages 7 and Up
Cost: $35
Imagine a cat, dog, elephant or any other animal as a zombie and let your imagination work
over-time! Clay is a wonderful medium for self-expression. Children will learn basic handbuilding techniques and add colourful underglazes to their creations. Finished pieces will be
ready for pick-up in 2 weeks.
Wednesday July 3
9:30am-Noon Clay Monster Eggs with Sharon Lynch-Ages 7 and Up
Cost: $35
What would a monster hatching from an egg look like? A gruesome eye, a weird arm emerges
through the crack and you made it yourself! Participants will make 2 different eggs which will be
clear glazed, fired and ready for pick-up in 2 weeks.
Thursday July 4
9:30am-Noon Stained Glass with John Jackson-Youth and Adult
Cost: $35
Participants will use precut pieces of glass to create a suncatcher. They will foil, solder their
pieces together, patina and wax their suncatchers.
**PLEASE NOTE HOT SOLDERING IRONS WILL BE USED.
1:00-3:30pm Bird Boxes with Britt Olauson-Ages 7 and Up
Cost: $25
Description; In this workshop participants will learn how to build a simple structure out of
wood, which ends up being a practical little bird house. Some are the parts are pre-cut to allow
for ease of construction, but basic woodworking skills will be introduced to successfully
complete the building process.
Monday July 8
1:00-3:30 pm Flower Power with Britt Olauson-Youth and Adult
Cost: $40
Take advantage of our short planting season, with window boxes in every window! Learn how
to safely use the chop saw, drills and a little bit of simple joinery while making these functional
boxes that can be filled with colourful flowers year after year at home or at the cottage.

Create a creepy or scary monster face that you can hang up. But be careful - you could scare
your family and friends! Green textured skin and a fierce expression adds to the appeal. Children
will learn the many possibilities of hand-building in clay and choose their own colour
combinations. Finished pieces ready for pick-up in 2 weeks.

9:30am-Noon Beads Galore with Erin Lynch-Ages 7 and Up
Cost: $25
Learn how to make foil and paper beads. Your creations can then be strung into a one-of-a-kind
bracelet or necklace.

hang in their room, to be filled with small collectibles or just for decoration. This unique project

Cost: $25
Create a paper mache bird adorned with beads and feathers. Your creation will be the perfect
addition to a bedroom or a parade.
Friday July 12

9:30am-Noon Funky Junk with Erin Lynch-Ages 7 and Up
Cost: $25
Make cool things with odds and ends you find in a hardware store. Transfer everyday things
such as as hooks, nuts and bolts into robots.
1:00-3:30pm Jewellery Stamping with Erin Lynch-Youth and Adult
Cost: $35
Use metal stamps to create jewellery with names or inspirational words.
Wednesday July 17 and Thursday July 18
9:30am-Noon Mosaics with Erin Lynch-Youth and Adult
Cost: $60
Participants will design and create a beautiful glass mosaic that can be hung on a wall.
Techniques and skills learned from this workshop will allow participants the basic knowledge to
create their future dream piece: a backsplash or table top at home.
Monday July 22
9:30 am-Noon Found Object Pendant with Erin Lynch-Youth and Adult
Cost: $40
Create a sterling silver one-of-a-kind pendant with significant and sentimental keepsakes.
Instructor will have items to choose from participants are asked to bring their own items as well
such as old jewellery or any miniature items.
Wednesday July 24
9:30am-Noon Cardboard Creations with Erin Lynch-Ages 7 and Up
Cost: $25
Using cardboard and tissue paper make an original 3D self-portrait, alien universe or landscape
that can be mounted on your wall.

Create some unique copper wire rings. Learn how to use hand tools and a ring mandrel.

the artist's job to discover them in trees and rocks and rivers. Participants will select a piece of
driftwood from an ancient and magical collection, and release the creature trapped within
through sanding and painting and storytelling. Forever grateful, the creature will dwell in your
house or garden, bringing good fortune and protection.

Learn puppet making by forming shapes with paper clay and plastic bandages. Create a
character with paint, costume and decoration.

Cost: $40
Learn how to build mitred frames using materials provided. Get more comfortable with the
chop saw and make a custom frame to fit that odd sized masterpiece!

9:30-Noon Felt Creature with Sandi Luck-Youth and Adult
Cost: $30
Use wool fibre to needlefelt a fabulous felted creature.....imaginary or realistic, it's your choice.
Simple rolled shapes are joined together to create a small felted animal. NOT SUITABLE FOR
YOUNG CHILDREN as an extremely sharp needle is the main tool.
1:00-3:30pm Felt Bag with Sandi Luck-All Ages
Cost: $30
Learn how to wet felt wool fibres into a small bag using a piece of plastic and soapy water. Add a
rolled strap or button closure. Bag can be used for camera, cell phone, glasses or small purse.
