search was initiated, he was found dead sitting in the edge of the river & said to still be holding the reins to

Sizemore. He served as magistrate, high sheriff, and as a member of the lower house of the KY Legislature
from Perry Co., KY. He was the son of William "Bill" Begley and Winifred" Winnie" Minerva Sizemore.

informed the Commander at Louisa, after traveling over 100 miles on horseback, married John Holiday;

Edward "Ned" Begley, born 1804 in , , TN; died 1863 in , Leslie Co., KY. After the Battle of Cumberland
Gap, groups of Confederate soldiers were cut off in eastern KY trying to get back to VA. One of these
came upon Ned, near Nigh-Way Point & began to question him & he thinking they were Union soldiers,
talked himself into trouble. They hanged him. He was the son of William "Bill" Begley and 17. Winifred
"Winnie" Minerva Sizemore. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Lusk, born 1810.

William "Bill" Begley, born 1771 in , Botetourte Co., VA; died 1852 in , Perry Co., KY. It is said Bill had
a dispute in NC over some livestock, Bill promised to shoot the defendant if he lied about the case. When
Bill lost the case & left the court the other man was holding a child, so Bill shot him in the legs & left NC.
Bill along with his older brother Thomas signed the Petition to form Tazewell Co., VA, shortly thereafter it
appears that they both moved to Hawkins Co., TN. Bill then appears in KY, along with his father-in-law,
George "All" Sizemore @ 1805, and settled the land about a mile up Cutshin & Bull Creeks & up & down
the Middle Fork of KY River in current Leslie Co., KY. Bill was very active in Perry Co., KY politics
from the formation of Perry Co. in 1822 until his death. He was the son of Henry Begley and Elizabeth
Pearsall. He married Winifred "Winnie" Minerva Sizemore, born 1772 in , , NC?; died September 20, 1855

Henry Begley, born 1734 in Albemarle Dist. Sussex Co., VA; died 1802 in , Chatham Co., NC. On
October 11, 1751, Henry bought 200 acres in Northhampton County, North Carolina from his father. This
was where he was already living. He paid 50 pounds in Virginia money. In 1752 he bought another 100
acres. He sold all of the above land on May 16, 1766. By 1777 he was buying and selling property in
Chatham County, North Carolina. He retained property there until his death in 1802. Believe that first wife,
Elizabeth Cook is mother of Henry, Jr., Thomas, Bethiah, and John, and that Elizabeth Pearsall is probable
second wife, and mother of William, Elisha, etc. He was the son of Peter Begley. He married Elizabeth
Pearsall, born 1750.

executor of the estate of his father-in-law, William Shepherd 11-25-1772 by Andrew Neal, Circuit Clerk,
Tyron, Co., NC. George Winters & John Morris were his securities, he appears on the 1789 Montgomery
Co., VA, Tax List C - Bird Smith District: That area of Botetourt Co. given to Montgomery Co. in 1787,
George Sizemore, he then appears on the 1790 Hawkins Co., TN voter-tax list with his father Edward.
George was administrator of his fathers estate in Hawkins Co., TN (deed written 10-23-1811, reg in deed
book 3, pg. 296, 3-16-1814). He is said to have settled in the Red Bird area of Clay Co., KY @ 1805. He
