POSITION DESCRIPTION: Beef Business Manager REPORTS TO: General Manager PURPOSE OF POSITION To achieve profitability targets for the beef business sector by overseeing the beef sales, service programs, products and people coordinated to maximize the value created for our customer-owners. RELATIONSHIPS/GUIDING PRINCIPLES: Acts consistently with Employee Policy Manual Keeps safety of self and others in the driving and delivery of products at the forefront of daily activities Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all support departments and key accounts Maintain, at all times, a professional image reflective of the overall Minnesota Select Sires branding objective with internal and external clients inclusive, but not limited to, dress-conversationcleanliness-driving and decision making OBJECTIVES To sell the beef sires, products, services, and programs of MN/SS to beef producers to meet annual budget objectives in sales volume and profitability under the long range objectives of the cooperative across the entire cooperative area. To recruit, hire, maintain, and direct an effective, highly motivated, professional marketing staff of Independent Beef Representatives (IBR). To lead the overall development and market positioning of our beef sires, products, services, and programs To become recognized as a leading expert in commercial beef genetic improvement and reproduction in our market area and within our company DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The sale of direct herd units, animal products, and services of the cooperative in the assigned areas directly through a network of IBRs and indirectly through the Account Managers and Service Technicians. To provide an efficient delivery system of semen, nitrogen and other products to the membership in the assigned area. To direct and ensure implementation of all Beef marketing programs established by the cooperative. To conduct an effective A.I. Training Program in coordination with the needs of our Beef Business Development plan Strives to minimize accounts receivable and take appropriate action to reduce them. To attend and participate, when reasonable and practical, in beef breed, cooperative and related agribusiness events and functions as a representative of the cooperative. To routinely report activities, progress, unusual situations and other requested information to the General Manager. To attend and participate in seminars and conferences designed to improve the skills and performance of the Beef Business Manager. To cooperate and communicate with other employees in order to achieve greater coordination of effort and team spirit among employees of the cooperative in building our Beef business. To perform other duties as assigned. Position Specifications: 5+ years of supervisory/sales/marketing experience in the beef industry preferred Proven excellence in performance management of a team A Bachelors Degree preferably in a scientific discipline required Strong experience with reproduction and genetic programs in beef markets expected Ideally having organized and executed beef breeding projects involving synchronization programs and breeding barns Strong understanding of beef customer and market dynamics Excellent organizational and accuracy skills, excellent oral and written communications and computer skills and the ability to utilize these technology tools along with CRM Already possessing the skills necessary to artificially inseminate cows is preferred Valid driver’s license required Must be willing/able to travel 50%+ of their time both in North Dakota and Minnesota Must be willing to live in East Central North Dakota Compensation: Compensation will be commensurate with the degree of qualifications met and experiences had.
