I, George Wall of Ledbury in the county of Hereford, gentleman, do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following. First, I give and commend my soul unto Almighty God, hoping to be saved by the meritorious death and passion of Jesus Christ; and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent way. Item I give to the poor of the town of Ledbury 30s. to be paid within half year after my decease. Item I give to my brother, Thomas Wall, the History of the Netherlands and four of the best divinity books I have, at his choice. Item I give unto Mr. William Bridges my largest writ book in my trunk at London. Item I give to Mr. Robert Needham my Year Books. Item I give to my brother John Hall five more of my other divinity books. Item I give to Mr. Thomas Bridges the Lord Dyer’s Reports. Item I give to William Mathews of Ledbury, apothecary, Eusebius History. I give to Mr. Richard Coucher The Touchstone of Common Assurances. Item I give to Mr. Francis Hall my best birding gun. Item I give to James Baylies my sword and belt. Item I give all the rest of my personal estate goods and chattels unto my said brother Thomas Wall and his assigns for the payment of my debts. And in trust and to this intent that the said Thomas Wall shall permit and suffer Mary Wall my loving wife to possess and use the same during her life and afterwards shall permit and suffer Mary Wall my daughter and her assigns to hold and enjoy the same forever. And upon this further trust that if the said Mary Wall my wife shall be minded to leave off housekeeping, then with the direction of the said Thomas Wall she may have liberty to sell and dispose of the same and convert the same into money to be employed as aforesaid, or if the said Mary Wall my wife shall die before my said daughter shall attain to the age of fifteen years, then my will is that my said brother Thomas Wall and his assigns shall and may sell and dispose of the said personal estate, or such part thereof as he shall think fit, and the money thereof raised for the use and benefit of the said Mary my daughter. And my will is that the said Mary my wife shall bestow sufficient maintenance and education upon the said Mary my daughter until her age of one and twenty years or marriage with the consent of her said mother, if her said mother so long live. Item My will is that my said executor shall be allowed for his necessary expense and trouble that he shall be at and sustain in the execution hereof. Item My will is that the said Mary, my loving wife, shall have full power and authority at the time of her decease by her last will and testament to dispose of at her will and pleasure the sum of £300 to such person or persons as she shall think fit. And I desire the aforesaid Francis Hall, Thomas Bridges, William Bridges, Robert Needham and William Mathews, Richard Coucher and James Baylies to be overseers of this my will.
