EGYPT PROJECT You may choose any topic of interest to you for your Egypt report/project. I have listed some possibilities. You will notify me of your topic selection by Thursday, November 4th. Topics will be accepted on a random basis. However, I will only accept 2 reports per topic. Your project will consist of a three-page minimum hand written report that will be neatly written in black ink on white paper. It can also be a two-page minimum computer printed product in #14 font. The written portion of the project should be enclosed in an attractive report folder or cover of your choice. A model of the topic you have selected should also be included. For example, if you choose to do your report on mummies, you might wish to make a model of a person correctly wrapped and placed within a sarcophagus. Should you study pyramids, you might create one of clay or sugar cubes or even one that could be opened to show the secret passageways and burial chambers. A salt relief map of Egypt showing the course of the Nile River, its delta, and cataracts would be an appropriate model for a study of the Nile River. Your project will be worth 20% of your second trimester social studies grade. The more time, effort, and creativity that you put into your project, the higher your grade will be. The due date for this project is Tuesday, January 11, 2011. The following is my grading checklist: Report: Length (30 points) Information (35 points) Report cover (10 points) Bibliography with 5-source minimum (15 points) Oral Presentation (10 points) Report total: 100 points Model: Effort (40 points) Creativity (40 points) Neatness (20 points) Model total: 100 points The entire project is worth 200 points, given in two separate scores. Any late projects will have their total grades reduced by 10 points per day it is late. Very limited class time will be given to complete this project. If your parents or you have any questions about this assignment, please call me at 505-3011. Choose wisely and enjoy your learning experience!
