The “Edition-Version” option This option, on the left side of the screen, is common to all the tabs. The default is the current edition-version. The following possibilities are available under the drop list: Edition: 7 8 9 10 2 As from the tenth edition, selecting the edition opens a drop list from which the version year is selected: Version: 2013 2014 2015 2016 2. The “Class” option The drop list for this option contains a blank space and the class numbers 1 to 45. The blank space is the default selection of all 45 classes. Otherwise, one or more classes can be chosen from the drop list. 3. The “Go to” button Pushing this button gives access to the edition-version and to all the classes, or to one or various classes as selected from the drop lists mentioned in items 1. and 2. above. 3 II. In the main window, push buttons for the classes 1 to 34 (goods) and the classes 35 to 45 (services) are available. Pushing those buttons gives access directly to the selected class in the current NCL edition-version, in the same way as if only one class number and the current edition-version were selected from the drop lists in the left-hand “accessibility” menu. 4 The options for this tab are the following: 4.1. “Edition-Version” and “Class” as described in items 1. to 3. above. 4.2. Language (radio buttons) Selecting E or F shows data in the selected language. Selecting E/F or F/E shows bilingual data, one language version next to the other, in that order. F is default for the interface in F, E is default for interfaces in any other language. 4.3. View mode (radio buttons) 4.3.1. Full Shows the class number, the class heading, the hierarchy groups and the goods or services (GorS) of the selected class or classes, under the corresponding hierarchy group. It should be noted that the hierarchical taxonomy (hierarchy groups) does not exist yet. It is being created by OHIM in collaboration with WIPO and will be ready by the end of 2011 beginning of 2012. It is supposed to be an auxiliary administrative tool or a source of reference. Its application will not be obligatory and will not bind the countries of the Nice Union in any respect. Class 27 hierarchy groups have been used in the examples below as this class has already been reviewed by OHIM and WIPO. The GorS are displayed in the alphabetical order of the key word first, then by the alphabetical order of the first letter of the GorS. Key words should be somehow highlighted (bold? color?). Certain goods and services (G&S) are indicated with more than one entry: the master entry and one or more synonyms. In such cases, the master entry and the synonyms appear one next to the other. E.g. 5 Class 27 (class number) Carpets, rags, mats and matting, linoleum and other materials for covering existing floors; wall hangings (non-textile). (class heading) - Carpets, rugs and mats Carpets Bath mats Door mats Gymnasium mats / Gymnastic mats Non-slip mats Reed mats (hierarchy group) (goods) (good with a master entry and a synonym) - For vehicles Automobile carpets / Carpets for automobiles - Floor coverings other than carpets, rugs and mats Linoleum Artificial turf Vinyl floor coverings - Wall and ceiling coverings Wallpaper (hierarchy group) (goods) (hierarchy group) (goods) (hierarchy group) (goods) 4.3.2. Hierarchy (default mode) Selecting this view mode shows the hierarchy groups of the chosen class or classes, i.e. the class number, the class heading and the hierarchy groups, without the GorS. E.g. Class 27 (class number) Carpets, rugs, mats and matting, linoleum and other materials for covering existing floors; wall hangings (non-textile) (class heading) + Carpets, rugs and mats + For vehicles + Floor coverings other than carpets, rugs and mats + Wall and ceiling coverings (hierarchy group) (hierarchy group) (hierarchy group) (hierarchy group) Clicking “+” opens the contents of the hierarchy groups, i.e., the list of GorS of a particular hierarchy group. 4.3.3. G&S only Selecting this view mode shows the class number, the class heading and the GorS of the selected class(es) in the alphabetical order of the key word, without the hierarchy groups. This view is equivalent to the alphabetical list in class order. E.g. 6 Class 27 (class number) Carpets, rugs, mats and matting, linoleum and other materials for covering existing floors; wall hangings (non-textile). (class heading) Carpets Bath mats Door mats Gymnasium mats / Gymnastic mats Non-slip mats Reed mats Automobile carpets / Carpets for automobiles (goods) 4.4. Show (check boxes) (default: none) 4.4.1. Eg. for class 27 in view mode “Hierarchy” Class 27 (class number) Carperts, rugs, mats and matting, linoleum and other materials for covering existing floors; wall hangings (non-textile). (class heading) Explanatory Note (explanatory note) Class 27 includes mainly products intended to be added as furnishings to previously constructed floors and walls. Deletions/Transfers Checking this option shows all deletions and transfers made in any part of the classification as decided by the Nice CE (Committee of Experts) in the selected editionversion, class(es) and view mode. A transfer implies the deletion of a GorS from one class and its addition to another class, sometimes with a slight modification in wording. 7 Any deleted text is marked as crossed out text (?), with indication of the new class in case of transfer. 4.4.3. Basic Numbers Checking this option allows the user to see the basic numbers of the GorS. Master entries and synonyms have the same basic number. Example in “Full” mode: Class 27 (class number) Carpets, rugs, mats and matting, linoleum and other materials for covering existing floors; wall hangings (non-textile). (class heading) - Carpets, rugs, mats 270011 Carpets 270010 Automobile carpets / Carpets for automobiles 270001 Bath mats 270008 Door mats 270004 Gymnasium mats / Gymnastic mats 270012 Non-slip mats 270009 Reed mats - ……..etc. (hierarchy group) (goods with basic number) 8 5.
