Three Arguments
1) One can see social hierarchy and difference in social
interactions, p. 208 (and elsewhere)
2) One important social hierarchy in our society is by sexclass; as a result, people need to know the sex-class of
the person with whom they are interacting, p. 206 (and
elsewhere)
3) In order for people to receive the ritual due to their sexclass, they need to display their sex-class according to
certain conventions; gender identity does not exist
outside of these displays, p. 223-224
