Minutes of the Board Meeting July 16, 2015
Meeting called to order @ 7:00pm
1. Announcements
a. LEAP 1 achieved!
b. Need official contacts for individual teams. Will be posted on
Border website so that these people may be contacted for
information.
c. USA Swimming convention to be held October 2015 in Kansas City.
Jim, LeAnn, Emma (athlete) will be attending.
d. Michelle attended Safety Conference, highlights:
1. Hypoxic Blackout – Bob Bowman video on Shallow Water
Blackout on USA Swimming website
2. Concussions/Brain Injury
3. First Aid Kits – although each pool should have one, meet
host/Border should have one at meets
4. Insurance – occurrence reports, coaches must have current
credentials otherwise USA swimming coverage in jeopardy,
issues arise if drylands are completed elsewhere
5. USA Swimming working on policy to address transgender
issues/needs
6. Handouts attached
2. Athlete Report – no athlete reps present for meeting
3. Upcoming meets
a. EPAP – entrance fee - $2.00, at DSSC meet tickets were stamped
with date for in/out access. There will not be any deck entries
including relays. Times will be uploaded ASAP so that TAGS
times/entries meet Monday morning deadline
b. Public meet to be held this weekend as well at Pavo – 17th and 18th
c. Border Champs - July 24-26 @ Pavo Real, Meet Director – Thomas
Cieslik:
 Budget for Hospitality/Concessions for each session –
typically $75.00, or reasonable, for hospitality. Teams can
run concessions for the sessions that they are operating
 Meet Program preparation, printing, and price – may
charge $5.00 for heat sheets, suggest printing 3040% of number of swimmers entered
 Meet Mobile Heat Sheets Online for Free? – consider
putting heat sheets on Meet Mobile after they sell out,
online heat sheets not easy to navigate
 Responsibility for Meet Manager file before, during,
and after the meet – LeAnn will complete entries and
will send backup to Tom and Cingy



Need to find or borrow from City Aquatics the 10 lane
pad harness – we received information that this will be
returned by end of this weekend 7/19
Responsibility for bringing Border Trailer to Pavo on
Friday – BAT will set up
Responsibility for taking Border Trailer back to
storage on Sunday?
d. Elections for athlete reps – will take place at Border Champs,
registered swimmers 13 years and over may vote. Athlete reps
must be 16 years old or a sophomore in High School. Need three
reps.
e. Election for coaches’ rep
4. Upcoming SCY season
a. Turkey Splash – November 20-22
b. EPAP – December 12 – 13
c. BAT – February 6 – 7
d. WETT/Del Norte – 10/03, 11/07, 01/09 with possible 11 years +
meet on the following Sunday
e. Border Champs – February 19-21, possible “B” times championship
1 session weekend before?
5. Replacement for Diversity Coordinator – Manny Gardea elected
6. Nominating committee for next month’s HOD meeting
a. Positions – General Chair, Admin Vice Chair, Senior Vice Chair,
Age Group Vice Chair, and Secretary
b. All are eligible for re-election.
c. Scott will be resigning at end of this calendar year
7. HOD Meeting date
a. August 19 @ State Line restaurant

a. Budget to be voted on
b. Starting in September meetings will be held on second Wednesday
of month.
