Purpose: The JMML Foundation, as a research and non-profit entity, affirms its commitment to promote equality of opportunity, human dignity, and racial/ethnic and cultural diversity. II. Civil Rights Act of 1991 7. California Constitution Article 1 Declaration of Rights Section 31 8. Other applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. 9. Policy Juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia (JMML) afflicts children worldwide indiscriminately. The JMML Foundation, a non-profit public charity, seeks to cure JMML and to improve the quality of life of JMML patients and families through research, education, advocacy, and charity. Given the diverse nature of those afflicted with JMML, the expectations of a public charity, and the scope of the Foundation’s Mission, the JMML Foundation is committed to taking affirmative steps to diversify the composition of its Board, staff, and volunteer base. The diverse composition of the Foundation should reflect those it serves, while allowing the organization to operate knowledgably and responsibly and to advance its Mission. Furthermore, valuing the inherent worth of every person, we will treat with respect and consideration all persons, without regard to race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, marital or family status, disability, maternity, age, or national origin. This is a commitment made by The JMML Foundation and is in accordance with federal, state, and/or local laws and regulations. V. Personnel Responsibilities 1. The Board of Directors will assure that diversity is promoted in the selection of grant awards, officer positions and medical advisory board members. 2. Periodic Reviews 1. Reviewer: The Executive Committee will review the policy 2. Method: The Leadership Development Committee will review the Foundation’s operations for compliance with the policy and make suggestions for revisions during the bi-annual review. 3. Periodicity: As needed upon suggestion of revision by any member of the Board of Directors or constituents of The JMML Foundation or upon passage of new laws or regulations. VII.
