-------------------------------------------------------Postdoctoral Researcher: Statistical/Population Genomics
-------------------------------------------------------This postdoctoral position in bioinformatics, computational biology and
statistical genetics will involve analyses of pan-genomic SNP-chip data
to develop methods for quantifying and visualising genomic ancestry at
the chromosomal and sub-chromosomal level. The project will involve
analyses of actual SNP-chip data and investigations of simulated and
model datasets.
Applicants should have a PhD degree in an appropriate discipline
(bioinformatics, computational biology, statistical genetics, population
genetics/genomics) and be familiar with suitable programming languages
and bioinformatics tools (Perl, C, C++, C#, Python, Java, etc.), Also,
applicants should have an interest in creating tools for exploration,
visualisation and interpretation of complex high-dimensional genomic
data. Knowledge of Web 2.0 programming, development and design tools is
also desirable (AJAX, Javascript, Flash, Dreamweaver etc).
Mandatory Requirements
---------------------PhD degree in Statistical Genetics, Quantitative Genetics, Animal
Breeding, Population Genetics/Genomics or Bioinformatics, Computational
Biology.
Knowledge of appropriate programming tools for bioinformatics (Perl, C,
C++, C#, Python, Java, etc.).
Demonstrated ability to develop software relating to bioinformatics
and/or genomics data analysis or modelling.
Desirable
--------Experience of handling, analysing and interpreting large-scale
high-dimensional genomic datasets.
Knowledge of Web 2.0 programming, development and design tools (AJAX,
Javascript, Flash, Dreamweaver etc.).
Knowledge and interest in animal genomics.
