ANN ARBOR SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA PRESENTS:
Beethoven & Brahms Chamber Concert
ANN ARBOR, MI – The A2SO invites you to discover the romantic and intense beauty of
chamber music on Wednesday, April 24 at 1:30 p.m. From the lush harmonies of Brahms Piano
Trio No. 1 in B Major, Op. 8 to the classical fire of Beethoven’s Piano Trio No. 2 in G Major,
Op. 1 No. 2, this nondenominational concert takes place at the Jewish Community Center of
Greater Ann Arbor and is designed for the disconcerting and curious listener alike.
This star-studded trio features Arie Lipsky, Cello, Yehonatan Berick, Violin, and pianist
Pauline Martin.
Music Director and Conductor Arie Lipsky, born in Israel where he received extensive training
as a cellist and as a flutist, Arie Lipsky was just nine when he won the first of many prestigious
musical competitions allowing him to solo with his town’s orchestra. After this impressive
success, he began to appear in concerts throughout Israel and Europe. In his 13 years as
Conductor and Music Director of the A2SO, Lipsky continues to grow a tremendous and loyal
audience in Southeastern Michigan with concerts where both discerning and casual listeners alike
are calling what they hear as “an Ann Arbor Symphony sound” of confidence and clarity.
Yehonatan Berick, in high demand internationally since becoming a prizewinner at the 1993
Naumburg Violin Competition, Berick enjoys a busy concert schedule as soloist, recitalist,
chamber musician, and pedagogue, throughout North America, Europe and Israel. This will be his
seventh Chamber Concert with the A2SO.
Pianist Pauline Martin’s impressive Washington debut captured the Washington Post headline
Pauline Martin's Dazzling Debut. The Canadian-born pianist continues to earn world-class
recognition for solo and chamber music performances, recordings and national broadcasts in the
United States, Canada and Europe. This will be her first performance with the A2SO.
A dessert reception begins 30 minutes before the concert, doors open at 12:50 pm. Tickets are
$10 and are available at the door or online. Jewish Community Center of Greater Ann Arbor is
located at 2935 Birch Hollow Dr. Ann Arbor, MI 48108.
