Have read the Rules and wish to enter the John Lumsden Memorial Cup 2011. I
am eligible under the conditions of entry. I have also read the Rules of Amateur
Status and hereby declare that I have conformed to them in every respect.
My existing handicap is

Union’s Handicapping Scheme.

The maximum entry is 81 competitors. If this number is exceeded, a ballot will
be held. Players balloted out will have their entry fee refunded.
I enclose €30 entry fee (No entries can be accepted without the entry fee).

CONDITIONS
1. The Cup shall be called the “John Lumsden Memorial Cup” and shall be competed for annually.
2. The tournament shall be under the control of the Royal Dublin Golf Club.
3. Entry shall be made only on the special entry form, to be obtained from the Royal Dublin Golf Club.
Entry with payment can be made to The Royal Dublin Golf Club by cheque or credit card.
4. Competitors must conform in all respects with the Rules of Amateur Status.
5. Completed entry form, with payment, must be returned to Royal Dublin Golf Club before the closing
date.
6. Entries will not be accepted by letter or telephone. Entrance fees will only be refunded if a player is
balloted out.
7. The Championship Committee reserves the right to refuse entry without stating any reason.
8. It shall be obligatory for all competitors in the Championship to play with a 1.68 golf ball, which is
named on the current list of conforming golf balls.
9. The Championship shall be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf, as approved by The Royal
and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews and in accordance with the Local Rules of the host club.
10. The tournament shall only be open to members of affiliated Clubs in Leinster.
11. The handicap limit shall be nine.
12. The maximum entry is 81 competitors. If this number is exceeded a ballot will be held amongst the
higher handicap players. Players balloted out will have their entry fee returned.
13. The tournament shall be decided over 36 holes, medal play, and each competitor playing two rounds of
18 holes on the day of the Championship.
14. Competitors are requested to be present on the 1st Tee at least five minutes before the advertised
starting time. Any competitor who is absent from the 1 st Tee when called upon to start will be liable
for disqualification.
15. UNDUE DELAY: The attention of the competitors is drawn to RULE 6, PARAGRAPH 7 OF THE
RULES OF GOLF.
16. Prizes will be awarded as follows:

Third Best Nett
Best Gross
Fourth Best Nett
Second Best Gross
Best Nett 1st Round & Best Gross 1st Round
Best Nett 2nd Round & Best Gross 2nd Round
N.B. Whilst the Best Nett and Best Gross may be won by the same competitor, no other competitor
may win more than one prize.

17. Ties will be decided on the last 9, 6, 3, 2, 1. If still a tie on the last 3, 6, 7 and 8 of the first nine and, if
still a tie, shall be decided by lot.
18. The Cup shall be held for one year by the Club from which the winner shall have entered and such
club shall be responsible for its safe custody and return to the Royal Dublin Golf Club before the
tournament in the following year.
19. Motorised buggies may be utilised only by persons in possession of a current medical certificate of
disability, subject to availability. The buggy may be used only by the person named on the certificate
and may carry only his equipment and caddy. (Penalty for breach – disqualification of the offending
player/s).
