HL7 Technical Committee or Special Interest Group Mission and Charter Statement Group Name: Arden Syntax Special Interest Group Mission This group supports the HL7 mission to create and promote its standards by maintenance and further development of the Arden Syntax for Medical Logic Systems, a standard for representing and sharing clinical knowledge in procedural format. Charter Work Products and Contributions to HL7 Processes The Arden Syntax SIG will develop future versions of the Arden Syntax, with the goals of facilitating its use for representing procedural medical knowledge and promoting knowledge sharing. Toward this end, it also will identify existing HL7 messages and triggers that might be usable for decision support and contribute these to the Clinical Decision Support Technical Committee. Also, the SIG will work with other groups in HL7 towards a standard data model and query protocols to solve Arden Syntax's "curly braces" issue. Formal Relationships with Other HL7 Groups The SIG is sponsored by the Clinical Decision Support Technical Committee. As such, the SIG will incorporate the generic modeling for clinical decision support systems in the specific technology represented by a procedural formalism for clinical knowledge representation. Further, the SIG will contribute abstractions from its work with this particular formalism toward the more generic modeling efforts of the TC. Formal Relationships with Groups Outside of HL7 NONE Date of Last Revision DRAFT. 19 December, 2000.
