Summary. I am a proven senior business executive with over 29 years of
experience in operations. After earning a Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering
I have performed successfully in global pharma/biotech companies, a small
start-up, and in a European company. I am now consulting for organizations
working in biopharma and global health and teaching university students.
Leadership: Led global, technically diverse organizations composed of up to 1500
scientist and engineers; managed budgets in the $350MM range; built successful
interdisciplinary teams and recruited, retained and developed high quality individuals;
was an active member of functional and corporate level executive management teams.

discoveries into commercial products; built a broad understanding of business and
financial principals and how to apply them; hands on experience leading manufacturing,
process development, quality, EH&S, risk management, capital and process engineering,

My thirteen plus years at Amgen were a fantastic time for me to learn new skills by
building on what I already knew from my previous experiences. When I retired I was one
the top 25 leaders of this $15B in sales, Fortune 500 company. I built industry leading,
global PD and quality organizations and drove continuous improvement efforts to
maintain our competitiveness. I worked closely with the finance, HR and sales and
marketing organizations to understand the needs and how best to meet them. I was deeply
involved with a major acquisition and the subsequent integration effort. I participated in
the launch of many new products in both the US and over 45 different countries. I was a
member of many corporation wide governance and project teams.

My tenure at Synergen provided me a broad array of experiences that can only be gained
by working at a small entrepreneurial company where everyone has to do whatever
necessary to get the jobs done. When I joined there were only 50 people and over my
career the company grew to over 700 staff, and my scope of responsibilities grew as well.
I was able to apply the relevant knowledge I gained from working at Schering Plough but
in such a way as to make it relevant for the smaller organization.
