People credited with this unit standard are able to describe, assess, accept, and sort reusable goods for resource recovery. They may refer to manuals, codes of practice, or policy statements. Elements and performance criteria Element 1 Describe, assess, accept, and sort reusable goods for resource recovery. Performance criteria 1.1 Sources of reusable goods are described in terms of local availability. Range 1.2 Reusable goods from local sources are described in relation to actual and potential markets. Range 1.3 goods and resale may include but are not limited to – donations. Any reject goods are identified and reasons for rejection are described in accordance with company procedures. Range 1.6 types of goods acceptable at the workplace; assessment includes but is not limited to – possible uses, ownership of goods, repairs needed. Reusable goods are accepted for resale in accordance with company procedures. Range 1.5 markets may be – local, national, international. The assessment of goods for acceptance is described in accordance with company procedures. Range 1.4 sources include but are not limited to – households, resource recovery facilities, charity organisations, manufacturing waste; evidence is required for at least two reusable goods from each source. reasons for rejection may include but are not limited to – contamination, below grade. Reusable goods are moved to designated area and processed in accordance with company procedures. Range processing may include but is not limited to – sorting, display for reuse. New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 24259 version 1 Page 3 of 3 Please note Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards. Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
