Adult Congenital Heart Disease ST6 Person Specification Requirements Essential Desirable Basic Full Registration with GMC MBBS (or equivalent) Higher degree Postgraduate MRCP or equivalent ACLS Qualification Hold a National Training Number in either Cardiology or Paediatric Cardiology Experience What length and type of work experience is required This post is suitable for an existing specialty trainee who has completed ST3-ST5 Cardiology training or ST4-ST5 Paediatric Cardiology training and who wishes to specialise in the care of adult patients with congenital heart disease Evidence of interest in congenital cardiology Ability Knowledge, Clinical and Technical Skills Clear logical thinking showing an analytical scientific approach. Good echo skills. Conversant with most medical emergencies and the ability to perform essential procedures Knowledge of cardiology complications, their treatment and prevention Teaching To value the importance of teaching others and continuing self-education Experience of teaching undergraduates and allied health professionals Personal qualities Good communication and language skills, oral and written. B.S.E. accreditation Must be calm, compassionate and able to respond efficiently to various circumstances, which may change rapidly Ability to work within and lead a multidisciplinary team Awareness of own limitations and strengths Productive time management Audit and Research Understanding of audit Management Ability Interest and enthusiasm in developing management skills Special requirements Ability to work almost independently in of the post the management of the general Cardiology patient or Paediatric Cardiology patient including inpatient and outpatient management, with guidance from the consultant team Evidence of previous audit and/or research activity or interest Demonstrable ability in managing other staff in previous posts
