BOMA INTERNATIONAL POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: MANAGER OF CODES AND STANDARDS REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF CODES & STANDARDS POSITION STATUS: EXEMPT POSITION CLASSIFICATION: MANAGER QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors Degree and a minimum of 3 years codes & standards development, commercial real estate, or government relations’ experience. POSITION AUTHORITY: EXEMPT POSITION DESCRIPTION OBJECTIVES: Work with the Director, Codes and Standards on issues related to building codes, industry standards, and best practices guidelines. Will also serve as BOMA International’s staff liaison for the floor measurement standards committee. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Represent BOMA within national codes and standards development organizations. 2. Represent BOMA before the U.S. DOE, EPA, OSHA, and other federal regulatory agencies on specific construction, codes & standards issues as assigned. 3. Communicate BOMA positions, concerns and objectives to other national real estate organizations to encourage their support of BOMA and common industry goals. 4. Work with model codes and standards setting organizations such as ASHRAE, ASTM, ANSI, ICC, and NFPA to ensure that any codes and standards being created or modified meet BOMA criteria of being reasonable, achievable, and cost-effective. 5. Manage and lead the development of BOMA International’s suite of floor measurement standards. Work with ANSI and BOMA’s floor measurement committee to ensure that these standards are developed in accordance to the ANSI guidelines and practices. 6. Work with local BOMA associations on code adoption at the state/local level. 7. Report strategies and activities on issues of concern in all BOMA communication vehicles. 8. Respond to member requests on issues of concern in the codes and standards arena. RELATIONSHIPS: Responsibilities require a close working relationship with all staff. The Manager of Codes and Standards must also interact with members, outside organizations, and vendors.
