Announces its One Month Teacher Training Course A Certificate Course in Specific Learning Disabilities or Dyslexia & A 8 day Parents Training Course MDA has been a pioneering organisation offering teacher - training programmes in the field of specific learning disabilities or dyslexia since 1994. The course has been well recognized by schools, and other organizations. It trains teachers to offer remedial help to children with learning difficulties. It is an intensive one-month training course and after the successful completion a certificate is awarded to the trainees. Why a special training for dyslexia? Dyslexia is a hidden disability and it can be often mistaken for laziness, stubbornness and an indifferent attitude towards studies. So teachers need to be aware of what the condition is, how it manifests and what kind of specialized help these children need so that they could be trained to cope with their academics. These children find it difficult to learn in the way they are taught in class and it is important for them to be taught in the way they can learn. So each child has to be assessed to find out his/her strengths, needs, learning styles, talents, and potential in order to plan and teach the child effectively. While most B.Ed courses cover the regular teaching methodology, they do not cover the area of learning disability, especially dyslexia. So a person who has done a B.Ed will also need this specialized training in specific learning disabilities to be an effective teacher. Who can train? It involves a one-month intensive theory programme with teaching demonstrations and practical. After the one-month, trainees have to put in 120 hrs of teaching internship to get hands on teaching experience. What is the course content? Dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia A detailed input into the identification of dyslexia, symptoms, incidence, causes The importance of early identification. Mile stone development and referrals to other professionals Understanding the importance of Speech and language therapist and occupational therapist. Dynamics of skill teaching: Dealing with: Reading Spelling Comprehension Writing Study skills Mathematics Other special features Understanding process of memory and enhancing it with suitable memory techniques Learning styles. Multiple intelligences and their role in teaching and learning. Holistic ways of observing the child and informal assessment techniques Behaviour problems and counselling students Stimulating the brain with suitable physical exercises. Who is the Faculty?
