Additionally you can serve as valuable resource promoting Kent State University in your
community and by referring prospective students. The best source for finding out about
outstanding prospective students is from you...our alumni, friends, faculty & staff!
Identifying students whom you feel embody the characteristics we seek is a great way to
support your institution.
Recent Graduate Advisory Council Member
The Recent Graduate Advisory Council was created to maintain a strong connection with
Kent State University young alumni and better serve their needs. The council is
comprised of alumni who graduated in the last five years. Alumni volunteers provide
feedback on marketing, fundraising and program development to the Division of
Institutional Advancement to help further the mission of Kent State University.
Volunteers are responsible for attending quarterly meetings at the Williamson Alumni
Center (conference calling is an option), responding to monthly e-communication and
represent the needs and interests of Kent State young alumni.
Scholarship Review Committee- Each March, over 100 students apply for scholarships
that are administered by the Kent State University Alumni Association. 19 scholarships

applications and help determine our annual scholarship winners. This is a great way to
give back to our students and support the importance of philanthropy of providing
scholarships to deserving KSU students.
Presidential Inauguration Representative
An inauguration is not just the formal installation ceremony to celebrate a new university
president, but is comprised of a series of events organized around the ceremony. These
events provide opportunities for the members of the university family to celebrate all
elements of the university, unite those with a stake in the future of the university, and
move forward together with a common understanding and vision for the future.
In cases where our President is unable to attend a Presidential Inauguration we will look
for an alumni delegate, often times who works on the campus hosting the inauguration, to
represent Kent State University at the events surrounding the inauguration and such an
important ceremony.
