Report of the Principal:
- The Georgia High School Graduation Tests were administered this week. It went very well. We changed the
class periods so that the students would not miss the same class each day. Students and teachers were relocated.
- Contracts were issued to teachers this month. We do not have a lot of turnover for next year. There is a total
of six employees leaving WHS to retire, transfer to the new school in Locust Grove, or change occupations. We
have been given an additional math support teacher for next year.
- The Bond Referendum failed. The new schools will not be built. Renovations and the purchase of school
buses will not happen. Due to budget cuts, our staff is being cut by 2 custodians and 2 permanent subs.
- The GAPS review at WHS is coming up. The county office is also sending teams to other schools to review
the academic classrooms to make sure standards are being taught.
- Our daily attendance is good again. Last month we were 2nd best in the county in attendance.
- We find out tomorrow which students made GHP.
- We are currently planning for the Prom, Honors Ceremonies, and Graduation.
- Students will take the Math 1 EOCT, but it will not count towards the final grade. Instead, the State will
review the results of the test scores. The students will have a final exam that will count 15%.

During the school day we offer Math Support classes for identified students. We have 30 extra minutes
built into 4th period for extra study/help. Also 30 minutes is allotted for 6th period IF. Students can get a
pass to go for extra help.
We have Unit Recovery, where students may attend two tutoring sessions and retest to raise their grade.
-
Credit Recovery is offered through Georgia Virtual School. This is available to identified students,
online and without teachers. Priority is given to Math failures with a final grade of 55 and above. This
is difficult, but doable.
B. Ms. Burkett has been chosen to serve on the selection committee for Math books. The council would
like for her to help select a book that includes examples and instruction, unlike the current books for the new
curriculum.
