JOB PURPOSE:

To be the guardian for the University’s brand management and reputation so ensuring consistent messaging and imagery, internally and externally by leading in the development of strategies and delivering pragmatic, innovative and commercial ways to enhance the UEL.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead in the development of strategic plans to enhance the UEL brand and its overall reputation

Lead, discover and deliver innovative ways and crea te strategies to enhance UEL’s reputation and brand

Lead on providing expertise when it comes to marketing schools and services in line with their strategic plan and the University’s Corporate Plan in areas of brand and reputation excluding student recruitment

Research how other higher education institutions manage their brand and reputation, collate, analyse and mine the data, raise funds and monetise events and draw out best practices and continually update strategy and working practices

Liaise with exter nal stakeholders to enhance the UEL’s reputation and brand

Oversee the execution of brand development

Work with appropriate colleagues across UEL to lead and design campaigns that can be tracked for effectiveness, impact and return on investment

Overall responsibility, in conjunction with the Director of Corporate Communications and Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer, for all university wide marketing campaigns, excluding student recruitment

Provide strategic marketing advice and support to the Faculties senior management and the wider University and establish credibility as a marketing and brand and reputation management expert.

Work with the Director of Communications to identify areas which need enhancing in terms of brand and reputation

Prepare, monitor and manage an agreed operational budget in relation to advertising and specific campaigns

Lead in the management and application of UEL's brand image across all material as appropriate

Lead and line manage a team which consists of, among others, Communications

Manager (Events), Communications Manager (Alumni), Communications Officer

(Events), Communications Officer (Alumni), and temporary staff and interns

Lead the team on the development of non-Student Recruitment marketing events.

To work with the Director of Corporate Communications and Associate Director of

Corporate Communications to discover and deliver innovative ways of monetising products and core skills

To work with the Director of Corporate Communications and Associate Director of

Corporate Communications to identify the priorities which will enhance the reputation and brand of the UEL

Confident user of Microsoft Office 2007 (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint) and specialist marketing software preferably including Email Marketing (e.g. MailChimp) and Customer Relationship Management (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics) systems. (A/T) o Desirable
