Introduction
Morehead Memorial Hospital, an independent nonprofit hospital in
Eden, North Carolina, is currently recruiting 1-2 pediatricians to serve a
growing patient care need in the community. Successful candidates can
choose to be hospital employed with full benefits or receive an income
guarantee for a solo start up.

additional pediatric coverage in the area.

Compensation
& Benefits
This opportunity can be structured as either an employed position with
Morehead Memorial Hospital with full benefits, or a solo start-up with
assistance from the hospital. Expected call would be 1:5 to 1:7 (shared
with a family medicine practice). Expected case load would be
approximately 40% well child care visits, 55% acute care visits, and 5%
hospital care, including attending C-sections.
The compensation package includes a competitive salary utilizing
MGMA data, as well as an RVU incentive, health insurance, life
insurance, malpractice, 403B retirement plan, voluntary 457B plan,
relocation expenses, paid vacation, and CME allowance. We can offer
an income guarantee for candidates wishing to open a private practice.
Hospital Privileges
The successful candidate would be expected to maintain active staff
privileges at Morehead Memorial Hospital and comply with applicable
Medical Staff Bylaws.
Educational Resources
& CME Opportunities Morehead Memorial Hospital places a heavy emphasis on continuing
medical education and provides many educational resources for its
physicians, including on campus CME opportunities and on-line medical
database for physicians. The hospital is an active participant in the
North Carolina Area Health Education Center system which provides
Category 1 lectures to the medical staff twice a month. More extensive
educational opportunities are also available through the medical centers
in the area.

Specialty Resources
U.S. citizen who has successfully completed a U.S.-based pediatrics
residency program; board certified in pediatrics (board eligible OK for
recent residency grads); and excellent communication skills and
command of the English language. (We are unable to sponsor Visa
candidates at this time.)
Specialty services available in Eden include OB/GYN, ophthalmology,
otolaryngology, orthopedics, podiatry, general surgery, and urology.
Medical consultation is available for internal medicine, nephrology,
oncology, cardiology, and pulmonology. Hospital-based specialties
include anesthesiology, emergency medicine, hospitalists, pathology,
and radiology.
Several outstanding medical centers are located within 100 miles of
Eden. They include the Brenner Children’s Hospital, Bowman Gray
School of Medicine, Duke University Medical Center, and the
University of North Carolina Medical School and Hospitals. Each of
these centers maintains a medical helicopter service.

Memorial Hospital
Morehead Memorial Hospital is a non-profit corporation licensed for
108 acute care beds. The Hospital has a modern, well-equipped
Emergency Department, a diagnostic imaging center with on-site CT
and a MRI, a 12-bed LDRP birthing center, a wound healing center, and
a full complement of ancillary services. In addition to the main hospital
facility, Morehead Memorial Hospital owns and operates a skilled
nursing facility, a cancer treatment center with chemo and radiation
therapy services, six medical office buildings, and an outpatient
diagnostic facility.
Eden is located in the northern piedmont of North Carolina and enjoys a
moderate climate with four definite seasons. It is 30 miles from
Greensboro and 45 miles from Winston-Salem. The Blue Ridge
Mountains of Virginia are less than one hour northwest and the coast is
three hours away. There are several large lakes nearby that offer
boating, fishing, and water sports. The rivers offer opportunities for
kayaking and canoeing. Located within the community are private and
public golf courses and a large, active, and well-outfitted YMCA.
Excellent public and private schools are available in Eden and
surrounding communities.
