Membership Update
Minutes from September 6th accepted
Geri reported the chapter has 183 members and 152 are
members of National.
Chapter renewal due January 2007.
Treasurers Report
Nominating Committee
Treasurers Report = Current – 11,471.91
In an effort to recruit new members to the Board, Mary
Schoen disseminated the Top ten reasons to join the board
or run for office.
Nancy Houlihan and Mary Schoen nominated Ann Culkin for
Director at Large. Liz Rodriguez announced that she is
interested in the President Elect position.
Geri Boyle commended by the Board
for the excellent work in managing the
chapter membership database. She
will continue to work as the
Membership Chair for 2007. Sarah
Jones and Anna Giallo-Uvino will
continue to work on this committee.
Reminder for chapter renewals will be
sent out in December. Annual dues
will remain at $20. Cut off date for
membership renewal will be March 15,
2007
Denise O’Dea will be sending out the
call for nominations in the next week or
two via e-mail. The top ten reasons to
be a Board member will also be sent
out.
Program Chair Report
Programs as follows:
 Nov 15th – Lois Almadrones- “Dancer as a Metaphor”,
an Art Exhibit and will offer 1 CEU credit which was
submitted to Lilly grant educational programs. The
program is being held at MSKCC Rockefeller
auditorium.
 The board discussed ways to enhance the program.
Offering ONS gift certificates for membership, 10
memberships as door prizes Ann Culkin will order 10
membership certificates; one will be placed as each
table.
 2007 January Meeting “Optimizing Treatment
Outcomes”- Christopher Friese, Amgen will be
sponsoring this meeting.
 Potential Presentation for 2007
o Gay Bailey- National Board Presentation= on
PEP cards.
o Panel Discussion- Paula Reiger, Laura Benson
and Gay Bailey
o OES- Fighting angiogenesis in solid tumorsNew Research and Promising Agents.
o Minimally Invasive Surgical Techniques
o Genentech sponsored: Managing side effects
of EFGR target therapies.
 Needs Assessment: Kristin Cawley and Nancy
Houlihan discussed options for presentations to
include in the needs assessment such as journal club,
case presentations, etc.
 The next Chapter Newsletter will introduce the 2007
ONS Board Officers and the Needs Assessment.
Kristin Cawley and Nancy Houlihan will
distribute the Educational needs
assessment at the dinner in November.
Ann Culkin and Mary Schumann will
mail out the end of the year Chapter
newsletter in December rather than email to ensure that the entire
membership receives a copy.
