**We are pleased to offer you a full-time Continuing Track appointment as Assistant Professor

academic year. Your two-year academic appointment in the Department of XXX will begin

This appointment is full-time and for an initial period of two years. The probationary period for
Assistant Professors is six years, divided into three successive two-year contracts. The start of
your probationary period will coincide with the effective date of this appointment, [date]. This
date also governs your timetable for peer review for contract renewal. Continuing non-tenuretrack faculty are subject to annual review by the Department Chair and to periodic peer review of
performance according to University policy. These and other conditions of employment

Your responsibilities as a member of the faculty of the Department of XXX in the College will be
consistent with the established workload policy for faculty. [State here any workload related

As a non-tenure-track faculty member, you will receive all of the benefits available to the
University’s faculty. You will be eligible for promotion in academic rank, as specified in the
departmental and University documents, included in the link above. You will also be eligible for
consideration for sabbatical leave under the same guidelines that apply to all University faculty.
We will contribute up to [$ ] toward your allowable household moving expenses, in accordance
with the University policies found at http://www.udel.edu/ExecVP/polprod/3-11.html. This
includes all expenses which are considered “deductible” by the Internal Revenue Service, which
is outlined in IRS Publication 521, “Moving Expenses” (available from the IRS online at
http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p521.pdf. In the event that expenses categorized by the IRS as
"not deductible" are reimbursed, they will be reported as taxable income on your W-2 form for
the year in which the reimbursement occurred. [Include here any additional arrangements related

The University is required by federal law to verify the identity and eligibility of new appointees
to work or study in the United States. Accordingly, this offer is contingent upon verification of

other information required by law and / or University policy, including but not limited to
a determination of your eligibility for employment following completion of a criminal
background check. Please note that a prior arrest or conviction will not automatically
disqualify you from employment.

letter supersedes all prior understandings and agreements between you and the University.
