Must have education and background in assessing and serving needs of children and families, including coaching of parents and building bridges to schools and community services. Fluency in English and Spanish required. Degree in ECE, social work, ESL, special education, or other related human services. Part-time, 20 hours/week. The beginning of a directory, including three excellent resources, is located in CJ’s Local Latino Focused Initiatives webpage or at: http://www.cj-network.org/cjloclatfocusedin/MentalHealth.doc The directory is meant as a starting point for referring Spanish-speaking individuals to mental health services. It is not an endorsement by CJ of any specific provider. WRITE A PROPOSAL TO HELP OUR LATINO COMMUNITY Bama Works Fund of Dave Matthews Band in the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation supports charitable programs in the Charlottesville area. Grants are limited to the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Greene, Orange, Louisa, Fluvanna, Buckingham, and Nelson. Proposals from organizations beyond the Charlottesville area are considered by invitation only. Grants are made to tax-exempt public charities under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and to government agencies without regard to factors of race, religion, sex or national origin. Program interests include, but are not limited to: disadvantaged youth, needs of the disabled, protection of the environment, and the arts and humanities. The Fund generally does not support: endowment programs, fund raising events, annual appeals of wellestablished organizations, or grants to individuals. The Boys and Girls Club and UVA will sponsor the third annual Children’s Health Fair at the Covenant School on Saturday, July 14, 2007, from 10 am – 3 pm. Last year 10 UVA residents provided on-site sports physicals to many youth and other health information and screenings were also available, including asthma checkups, as well as information on various community resources, including dental care, mental health, and community resources for children with special health care needs. CJ is cooperating with the Boys and Girls Club to encourage its government and non-profit members serving children to participate with information tables, mobile clinics, etc. For more information, please contact Steve Gough at 293-3945. July 16, 2007: CJ “Promotor de Salud” Working Group. The group’s next meeting is Monday, July 16, 2007 at 5 pm at the office of SARA, 1013 Little High Street (downtown).
