Clarity on Quiet Time Protocols
A few reminders for teachers during Quiet Time:
1.
Students should be permitted to use their electronic devices during Quiet Time. Our mantra is eyes in a book or eyes closed. Reading on cell phones is not the same as reading a paper bound book.
2.
Only during in the event of a lockdown, should classroom doors be locked while there are students inside of the classroom. If students arrive late to QT, please consequence them appropriately and have them enter the classroom quietly. Having students wait outside of the classroom is not an option.
Color Coding for Box Labels
Colored labels are in the drawer under the telephone in the main office. Please take what you need and follow the schematic that it directs. If you have any questions, please ask Mr. Kappenhagen. The color label is to indicate the destination of where the item is to be moved. In addition to the correct color, please write the destination room number.

Lock Down Procedures
Good job on last week’s lock down drill. Please take note of the following points in the event that a lock down is called.
A lock down is called both on the intercom system, as well as, members of the security team and administration will go around the school and announce into classrooms.
Teachers and staff members should lock their classroom doors immediately.
If there are any students, whether they are yours or not, in the hallway near your classroom, direct them into your classroom.
Cover all windows, including the one in your door. If you need a black felt covering, please see Mr. Lee.
Relocate all students sitting near a window or door.
Direct all students to be silent and wait for further instructions.
Classes who are outside, are directed to the first indoor, safe space available. Cafeteria, S-Wing Classrooms,
Gymnasium and Locker Rooms are few spaces where cover may be located.
